Each medic is required to have a current EMT license ,Providing medical care for occupational health/medical problems while stationed on fires or other natural disasters. Personally, I have been called into lines of fires in the Montana area, but also into the swamps of Florida where I was flown by helicopter and dropped into the swamps. There we had to be prepared to care for those infected with bacteria, protozoa, alligators, poisonous snakes and spiders.
