Construction Submittal Review Metro Rail Project, Virginia, USA
Construction submittal review regarding jack boring for utilities, support of excavation systems and retaining walls.
Clinton Landfill Expansion Engineering and Design; Clinton, Illinois, USA
Performed extensive engineering analyses and design for a major expansion to an existing municipal solid waste landfill. Critical engineering issues that were analyzed included the stability of the waste mass at various stages of development, leachate generation and the performance of the drainage and collection system throughout the landfill life cycle, and study of potential hydrostatic uplift. Evaluated landfill foundation stability, settlement, and stresses within the various geo-synthetic liner and final cover system components. Designed storm water channels, diver¬sion berms, letdown pipes, and sedimentation basins. Obtained various permits from local and Federal EPAs.
Landfill Leachate System Design and Specifications – Major Landfills Expansion and Significant Modifications, Illinois, USA
Performed engineering and design for landfill leachate extraction system. Evaluated leachate transmission pressure piping system for head loss that was used to select the appropriate leachate extraction pumps. Analyzed the ability of the buried HDPE piping to withstand overburden and traffic loading to assure the selected pipe would perform with acceptable deflection and resistance to crushing. Evaluated performance of leachate drainage and liner system using HELP model. Obtained various permits from local and Federal EPAs.
Geotechnical Calculations of Major Landfills Expansion and Significant Modifications, Illinois, USA
Supervised drilling process, performed engineering calculations including bearing capacity, settlement and swell, liquefaction potential and slope stability. Obtained various permits from local and Federal EPAs.
Landfill Final Cover and liner Design, Major Landfill Expansion and Significant Modifications, Illinois USA
Performed engineering calculations for final cover settlement, stress and slope stability and design of anchor trenches.
Storm water Management – Major Landfill Expansion and Significant Modifications, Illinois, USA
Conducted hydrologic and hydraulic evaluation for landfills. The evaluation included estimating runoff from multiple drainage sheds for various precipitation events, open channel flow computations, culvert design, and sedimentation basin designs. The evaluation used to design the facility’s storm water management system.
