EXPERIENCE:
March ‘08-Present JMA Elevated Design. Rocklin, CA. Job Captain
The responsibilities of a Job Captain with JMA Architecture involved a lot of
coordination with our consultants; especially, with such a big project like the Thunder
Valley Casino in Lincoln, CA. The coordination encompasses construction, design,
and construction administration issues related to the project that I was in charge of
within the Casino. Such projects are the Spa, the Salt Lick Restaurant, and the
Performing Arts Center.
For a complete description of my responsibilities, please refer to the attached job
captain level description from JMA.
July-March ‘07 Aerotek. Sacramento, CA. Senior Drafter
I was initially hired as a Senior Drafter through Aerotek to work for JMA. One of my
many tasks was to create and compile construction documents through the direction
of my Job Captain and Project Manager. I realized in this job that communication was
vital in maintaining a clean set of drawings. Programs that I became familiar with are
Autocad Architectural Desktop 2007, Microsoft, Deltek, and Expedition.
April 2004-2007 Fineline Design, Inc. Sacramento, CA. Senior Designer
As Senior Designer, I am responsible for seeing the project from start to finish. The
responsibilities involved are supervising the other designers; reviewing final
construction documents; coordinating with the owners, city/county plan checkers,
engineers and the design committees; and lastly, making sure that we meet the owner’s
design criterias.
Feb.‘03-April’04 La-Z-Boy Furniture Gallery. Sacramento, CA. Furnishing Consultant
The purpose of a furnishings consultant is to fulfill the clients’ needs by uncovering
what they want for their homes. This is acquired by sitting down with them, making
them feel comfortable, and then talking to them about their personal space. The idea is
to have them trust you. Once they start to open up, you begin to introduce ideas into
their space. Of course, the home visits, space planning, floor plans, and presentation
boards aid in the clients’ visualization of their personal space. In the end, if they are
happy with what you have accomplished, they may become loyal customers and an
ongoing friendship may develop over the years.
Feb.’01- Oct.’01 Applied Architecture, Inc. Sacramento, CA. Designer/Drafter
It was fascinating working for Mike Malinowski’s residential design firm. In his firm,
I got the chance to go out and do field visits and draw up as-builts. My other
responsibilities also included assembling detail sheets, filling out Title-24 forms,
making blueprint copies, calling Stewart Title for parcel maps and tax roles, and
answering the phone.
