His major employers in the private sector in Malawi include Southern Bottlers Limited, Paladin (Africa) Limited and Mwaiwathu Private Hospital Limited.
On the other hand, his public sector experience stems from his current employment with the Malawi Roads Authority since September 2017.
Chesterfield has rich and dynamic experience as a generalist human resources practitioner with in-depth experience in processes and strategies in attracting, developing and retaining talent to ensure business success. SUMMARY OF WORK HISTORY
1.Currently employed as Human Resource and Administration Manager for the Roads Authority Malawi. The Roads Authority is a parastatal organisation of the Government of Malawi that is charged with the mandate to construct, rehabilitate and maintain the designated public road network in Malawi. I am responsible for the management of the human resource and administration functions for the efficiency and effectiveness of the Roads Authority. I am responsible for development of the HR and Administration business plan, review and development of policies, talent management, employee relations, aspects of payroll management, overseeing the provision of office services, and the utilisation and use of assets and facilities.
2.Human Resources Manager for Mwaiwathu Private Hospital Limited located in Blantyre, Malawi from May 2014 to August 2017. I was responsible for the provision of quality HR support services to ensure organizational performance through its human resources and through the maintenance of efficient and effective work force structures. Specifically, I was responsible for the development of the HR business plan, employee relations, talent management, review of the Hospital’s structures, all aspects related to payroll processing and coordination of training and development functions.
3.Employee Relations Superintendent/ Human Resource Superintendent for Paladin (Africa) Limited from July 2010 to September 2013. Paladin Africa Limited was an Australian Mining Company which owned and operated Kayelekera Uranium Mine in Malawi. I was responsible for the successful management of all HR functions within the department and maintenance of a sustainable industrial relations climate within the workforce at the Mine. Specifically, I was responsible for talent management, employee relations, all aspects of payroll management, workforce planning and assisting the HR Manager in the development of the HR business plan for the Mine.
4.Regional Personnel Manager for Southern Bottlers Limited from February 2003 to June 2010.Southern Bottlers Limited was a franchise operator for Coca-Cola in Malawi. I was responsible for the development of the HR business plan for the Plant, employee relations, talent management and overseeing staff welfare functions.
SELECTED SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES CARRIED OUT IN THE POSITIONS HELD
1.Developing the HR Strategy covering recruitment, staff development and training, remuneration, performance management, staff motivation including incentives and recognition in support of the business’ overall strategic plan.
2.Ensuring industrial harmony, discipline and constructive and mutually beneficial working relations between staff and management as well as among all categories of staff.
3.Ensuring staff rationalisation in line with the Hospital’s strategy through alignment of all staff to positions based on competencies and strengths.
