10/1/89-6/14/2019
Financial Counselor/Customer Service Representative
I became a Financial Counselor at Deharo Saldivar Health Center on 10/1/89 when Parkland Health & Hospital Services took over. We transferred and created new charts for pts as it was a new system at PHHS. I would check in and check out patients, register patients on the program they qualified for, take payments, make charts for new patients and make appointments.
I am Bilingual in Spanish.
Over time, my responsibilities grew to include more specialized tasks within the healthcare industry. As systems evolved and patient needs became increasingly complex, I embraced opportunities to refine my skill set and adapt to new challenges. Managing financial counseling, for instance, allowed me to delve deeper into resolving insurance issues and navigating the intricacies of healthcare coverage, ensuring patients could access the care they needed without unnecessary barriers.
Throughout my career, I consistently sought opportunities to enhance patient care. I recognized the importance of adapting to evolving healthcare technologies and systems, embracing change as an avenue for growth. Whether addressing complex insurance issues or providing compassionate support to patients, every task reinforced my commitment to excellence and my ability to navigate the intricate landscape of healthcare management.
My career path reflects a dedication to patient care within the healthcare domain. Over the years, I adapted to various roles and responsibilities that demanded precision, adaptability, and people skills. Through consistent effort and firsthand learning, I acquired the expertise necessary to navigate intricate healthcare systems and deliver exceptional service to patients and colleagues alike.
For three decades at Parkland Health and Hospital Systems, I developed a keen understanding of how to resolve complex issues such as rejected claims, insurance verifications, answering phones, taking payments in person and over phones, helping patients with prescriptions and taking orders over phone and appointment coordination. I worked in a call center for over 5 years. My commitment to ensuring patients receive the care they needed was unwavering, as was my drive to improve operational workflows wherever possible.

UT Southwestern – COPC
I was a Health Center Assistant at J.T. Saldivar Clinic from 5/18/88 to 9/30/89 for UTSW and I checked in and checked out patients, registered patients, answered phones, made appointments and took payments. We did our own pulling and filing of patient charts as well as creating charts for patients.
