I coordinated news coverage, on a daily and project level, with reporters and photographers, and helped as copywriter when needed. I spearheaded use of digital tools, like social media and video, to publish news in ways that connected with our communities. Responsible for publication of our weeklies, including Sunday Business and Real Estate. Helped manage our website, news-press.com. EMPLOYMENT

2017-Present: Editor/copywriter, The Studio Real Estate

* Part of the creative team affiliated with the Coldwell Banker® brand handling real estate content from throughout the country. Print or digital, real estate advertising or communications, agent marketing materials and collateral, disclaimers and legal papers, and all writing in between, I help write and edit it. 2005-2016: Editor, Fort Myers-News Press

* Responsible for local coverage, on the front page, the metro, business and real estate sections, of the News-Press and news-press.com. I have reporters covering Southwest Florida business and tourism industry, real estate, local government who report to me; about a dozen others daily. In addition, was responsible for weekend planning of our largest paper on Sunday.

* Top notch line-editing skills, working with content from story origination to final product. Expert on AP style guide, grammar, punctuation, spelling, English usage, audience-tailored writing, active voice.

* I work with social media to promote stories and develop video and other visual presentations for digital storytelling, winning Best of Florida award for our week-long storytelling of the assassination of JFK 50 years later.

* Duties included management of the website, news-press.com.

* Top notch research and investigative skills, as I am responsible for the watchdog and project work done by the newspaper for print and our website.

* Excel in historical research. Was editor of 130th anniversary page in The News-Press. Every day for 130 days in print and on news-press.com, the series provided historical news about Southwest Florida and The News-Press. Marketing efforts netted the News-Press $120,000 in additional revenue. Similar work was done with the JFK assassination project, news-press.com/JFK, which dug up untold stories behind the event, and helped bring together three soldiers who served as honor guards and pallbearers for the president’s funeral. Marketing efforts also involved overseeing publication of the hurricane tab, visitors guide. Excellent Wordpress blogging skills, including topics for our Real Estate Sunday section, our Sunday Business sections. Great at idea generation, and those ideas become topic stories about the dearth of apartments in Southwest Florida, how pickle ball is being touted as an amenity for new housing for seniors, and how a road widening project on Fort Myers Beach is spurring residential and condominium construction never seen before.
