SPECIAL SKILLS
During my tenure with the Metropolitan Nashville Public School System, I have had the opportunity to work in three areas within the Special Education Program. I am well versed in Special Education Law. I have taken several workshops that concentrate on academics, behavior management and the individual education plan. I have trained teachers in the procedures for support teams, functional behavior assessments and inclusive strategies.
In my position as a consulting teacher, I identified the needs for professional development, assisted with curriculum and instructional initiatives, supported new teachers, planned with instructional teams, modeled lessons, supported inclusive practices and differentiated instruction, collected and analyzed data for improvement, shared data with teachers and designed plans for improvements, and completed daily documentation.
I also held the position of NCLB Specialist. In this position, I completed documentation for Federal Programs, collaborated with the building principal, teachers and parents, helped with design and implementation of the SIP, NCLB Notebook, presented information to parents through Open House and Parent Involvement Nights.
I have had the opportunity to be appointed as principal designee on several occasions over the past few years. In this position, I have the opportunity to interview perspective candidates for teaching positions, and oversee the operations of the school building.
I have also held the position of Lead Special education at Neely’s Bend and Stratford Lower Campus. In the position, I managed caseloads for the whole school, created professional development for exceptional education teachers, collaborated with the administrative principal with special education initiatives, and managed the special education staff.
During the 2010-2011 school year, I had the opportunity to be co-chair of the accreditation team. I completed documentation for the visiting accreditation committee, established a Power Point highlighting school initiatives and reforms. Through my efforts in collaboration with other Advance Ed accreditation members, Joelton Middle School was recertified for accreditation.
I was the acting administrator at Hickman Elementary School for ESY Summer School in the summer of 2012 and 2013.
I was elected as the Teacher of the Year 2015-2016 and 2018-2019.
I have experience in coaching Volleyball, Basketball and Track.
