Harbor Child Care, Herricks: Teaching Assistant 05/2016–09/2022

I was working as a teaching assistant for 6 years in Harbor Child Care, Herricks. I was mostly working with Pre-K students and toddlers. I talked with children and helped bring them to a good and happy mood and then I helped them to finish each class. I helped them in circled time = singing songs, action songs and in reading. I helped the children in lunch time, indoor and outdoor walk and in the playground. I used to prepare artwork project, lesson plan, and the daily reports to the parents.

Achievements:

Helped children with their arts and crafts to make sure students understood the objective of the day.

Nassau BOCES: Substitute Teaching Aide 01/2009– 06/2014

I was working as a substitute teacher aide for 6 years in The Nassau BOCES. I mostly worked in Eagle Ave School, West Hempstead. I was working with 6th to 9th graders. Some of them were autistic children who are unable to focus on any subject. I talked with them and helped bring them to a good and happy mood and then I helped them to finish each class. I helped them in math, science and reading and prepared them for their spelling test. Also, I encouraged them to get good report each day for their Target Sheet.

I have also worked in CCA Herrick’s and Rose Mary Kennedy School. In these schools the students were motivated to get their jobs in the particular areas they preferred. In addition to the class room subjects, I helped with the vocational training such as when we went to stores to encourage the students with retail duties. Thus they earn their credit as extracurricular activity. I used to be with the children, watching them and helping them to find the right place in the stores. As a field trip to botanical gardens, the children were asked to clean the garden, to plant the plantain tree and other plants during spring to help them. I also supervised them in the lunch room and in the computer room. I also helped the teacher to correct the test papers. I was helping the teacher as well as the students in all the day activities in any area they need.

Achievements:

Worked in different locations around local Long Island, based on the need of a substitute aide for students with special needs.

Eagle Ave Middle School, West Hempstead_ worked with high school children. Assisted with both in-classroom work as well as physical therapy sessions.

Center for Community Adjustment, Wantagh_ helped the middle school and high school children with their daily school functions.

Children’s Readiness Center, North Bellmore _ helped the children with reading, writing, and hands-on projects varying each day.

Jerusalem Avenue School, North Bellmore_ assisted elementary school children with one-on-one focus in multi-subjects.

Rosemary Kennedy School, Wantagh_ provided help to children with special needs with the Adaptive Physical Education from activities that helped visual-motor coordination, physical fitness as well as a variety of different lesson structures.

Western Suffolk BOCES: Teaching Aide 01/2008 – 12/2008

During this period, I was working with the special need children. I was helping the children to get down from the bus to the class room and feed them breakfast, lunch and snack. I helped them in rest room, brought them into indoor gym in winter and outdoor gym in the summer. I brought them to the nurse’s office whenever it was needed. I helped them with hand on hand in playing piano. I helped them to finish each period’s project and helped them to identify the colors and shapes of the toys. I also helped them in the art class to finish each day’s project according to each seasons. I also helped them in the activities like hand writing, identify the object’s color, math numbers and touch the different objects and shapes. In the afternoon, I used to bring them to the bus on the close of school day.

I finished my volunteer class and got the certificate to work as a volunteer, during 1999 – 2000 in PS 24, Queens, NY. I was worked as a volunteer in classes up to 5th grade in PS 24 until 2004. I was helping the children in the class room in English, Math, Science and Social Studies as the volunteer. I was preparing the students for the spelling test every Friday. Also, I used to make the students to memorize up to tenth math table. My volunteer activities include to improve students in their handwriting.
