Human Resources Manager at Big Island Substance Abuse Council June-2018 toDecember 2022. Responsible for all administrative matters including creating organizational correspondence such as policies and advertising the agencies recruitment, interviewing,on boarding, benefits counseling, terminations, and other types of administrative discharges. Responsible for the scheduling, and organizations’ training for all staff and employees. Attendance at the annual Department of Labor Legal Law Seminar. TRAINING AND ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT

Senior Staff Advisor (Sergeant Major) November 2004 – December 2012. Duties include serving as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Battalion Commander. Providing Leadership and input on personnel training, mentoring, effecting promotions performance evaluations, education opportunities, and award recommendations. Advises the Commander on formulation and implementation of changes in policy impacting enlisted personnel. Provides oversight and applicable management to enlisted training and development programs. Provide Professional Military Education to the Marines through lectures and instruction. Assigned collateral duties such as command request mast program manager, and family readiness officer. Participated in the support of battlefield operations, and provided area/convoy security during 2006 and 2007 in Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom). Supervised over 365 Marines during a 3 year tour with 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines. Conducted 2 seven months deployments to Okinawa, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Philippines, and Australia.

Senior Executive Assistant January 2012 June 2013 - Department of Homeland Security Communications Washington DC - Provided scheduling, drafting congressional correspondence to the Chief of Staff of the Communications Department. Worked alongside other internal and external agencies to provide data, and other communication services to the Director of the agency.

Deputy Director Youth Challenge Academy Hilo June 2013 November 2017.

Provided oversight of the Challenge Program which encompassed the educational training to the benefit to the “At Risk Youth” of the Big Island. Responsible for the training and education of 35-40 Staff employees. Provided budgetary feedback and requests from higher headquarters to run the program financial needs throughout the fiscal years while I was serving as Deputy Director. Provided input on all course educational needs and required reports to the Honolulu “partner” Youth Challenge Program. Attended the annual Directors Conference in Washington DC which provided program initiatives, and collaborations with other YCA National Programs.

Working knowledge in the principles of Organizational Development and young adult learning in a structured setting. Military Experience- United States Marine Corps

Personnel Administrative Clerk- 1983- 1984 - Service Record Book clerk. Responsible for making data entries into the service record books, conducting audits and maintaining accountability of over 350 service records. Attended formal personnel administration training, postal clerk training, and was also a Custodial of Classified Material Management.

Personnel Administration Chief 1984 to 1996- Managed over 350 service records, pay, travel, promotions, awards, correspondence files and directives. Supervised over 10 administration personnel. Provided instructional training in Records Management, Correspondence, Organizational Directives, and was responsible for employee sustainment training in their military duties.

Operations Chief- Marine Corps Institute - 1996-1998- As a operations chief was responsible for the training and effective management and the development of customer service related training products of the Marine Corps Institute. Supervises the enrollment and call center staff, which serviced all Distance Learning products to military members of all the military services such as Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and all other Reserve components. Supervised over 225,000 active and reserve enrollment accounts.

Drill Instructor- 1998-2000- trained over 1,500 recruits, and supervised over 30 drill instructors in day-to-day operations during a 3-year tour in Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island S.C. Training recruits through Academic, and practical application in the following areas; Drill, Marksmanship, Uniform Military Customs and Courtesies. Mentoring, Unit Cohesion, Rappelling, Basic Infantry Skills, Physical Fitness, Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, Basic Security Operations, Survival Swimming Skills, Weapons Safety and Handling skills.

Company First Sergeant - 2001-2004- Senior Enlisted Advisor to a Company Commander responsible for the training, mentoring, and supervision of approximately 375 Marines and other staff personnel assigned to the unit. Supervised personnel within other departments such as the Base Armory, Maintenance Operations Department, Supply Services, Base Motor Transport Services Sections, including a Headquarters and Services Section.
