EXPERIENCE
FEBRUARY 2020-JANUARY 2022
FOOD AND BEVERAGE MANAGER, NORFOLK YACHT AND COUNTRY CLUB
At Norfolk Yacht, I developed the wine and cocktail menu as well as a retail wine program. I saw them through the height of the COVID pandemic, running a grocery program out of the kitchen alongside the Executive Chef and the Clubhouse Manager. This gave the members a chance to continue to utilize their membership as well as have a safe place to get their groceries with minimal contact from a trusted distributor. I trained the FOH staff in fine dining as well as hospitality. I oversaw the scheduling and managing of the FOH staff as well. I helped design the new bars in the two restaurants during the clubhouse renovations and after the renovations I continued to oversea the restaurants, bars and banquet business acting as restaurant manager and banquet manager until we found and trained these positions. When the event coordinator resigned, I then took charge of that position as well. I did everything from consultations, booking, planning menus, staffing, making diagrams, setting up and working closely with clients on their events as well as running the event the day of. I planned and executed many member events to include introducing an annual Fall wine festival, and Brunch with Santa. I also held Trivia nights and themed buffet nights. This was all in addition to making sure to keep a steady LBW/Profit and Loss as well as ordering beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), handling member complaints, hiring and firing of FOH staff and acting as Clubhouse Manager and/or General Manager in their absence.

The graduation ceremonies included slideshow presentations of pictures throughout the years as well as a 20-minute performance and stage decorating.

I was the in-house substitute (requested personally by the assistant principal) for Cedar Road Elementary school for school year 2015-2016. The following year, I rejected the full-time position to start teaching at the above preschool. I did continue to work part-time at CRE for the 2016-2017 school year.

PRIVATE PIANO, VOICE, FLUTE TEACHER, MONTEREY, CA
During this time, I taught private piano, flute and voice to students ranging in ages from 5-16 out of my home. I had approximately 25 students.
AUGUST 2005 – JUNE 2006
VOCAL MUSIC TEACHER, Seaside High School
I walked into a vocal program that was suffering and lacked funding. In that one school year, with the help and guidance of the instrumental teacher, I raised enough funds to buy stoles for the choir, new music and we ended the year with a successful program. I was also in charge of the class piano program. Here students learned how to play piano at their own pace in a classroom setting. Students were taught theory, history of the instrument and we ended each semester with a piano recital. In that year, I also wrote and developed a curriculum for Music Appreciation which I taught to an enrolled class of nearly 40 students ranging from freshman to seniors.
AUGUST 2004 – JUNE 2005
ELEMENTARY MUSIC TEACHER, RED HOUSE RUN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
This was my first position after my undergraduate degree. Red House Run is a small elementary school grades K-5. I taught general music to all grades. The second grade was responsible for performing a musical at the end of the year. The third graders learned recorder which prepared them for instrumental music in fourth grade. Fifth grade had an option of singing in a choir I introduced before school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I used a variety of teaching methods to include Kodaly and Orff. One of my biggest achievements was updating the resources in the classroom which had not been updated since the 1970s!

OTHER
My husband is an officer in the United States Navy. We have moved 11 times in his near 17 years of service, however, we have grown roots here in Chesapeake, VA and will be staying for another several years. Our time together has taught me how to be very well organized and how to work with and appreciate people from many different backgrounds. I take pride in my home, my country, and my work. I was told as a teenager that restaurant and hospitality business was not an option if you wanted to have a family. Therefore, I went into Music Education. As the Navy moved us from station to station, I continued to bartend and work in restaurants and catering/event spaces. I found myself then staying at home after our children were born. When it was time to go back to work, I realized teaching was not where my passion was, and I started back into the hospitality/restaurant world. Teaching and my education have helped me become a great manager, leader, and mentor for many employees. I thoroughly enjoy working with people and improving their lives through dining experiences.
