Provided training to new employees and internal/external clients on building performance issues. Assisted and trained employees in basic computer skills, and Office. Developed training presentations for building performance and trained auditors and sales staff on technical building performance issues in classroom and in the field.
Field experience
Twenty plus years of experience in the building science field from insulation installer to building auditing on a residential and commercial scale. Promote energy efficiency by implementing energy products and efficiency measures. On daily basis perform residential energy audits including: combustible gas leak testing, combustion safety testing on all fossil fuel appliances, blower door testing and documentation of the house for computer modeling in the office. Also completing all required paperwork to receive rebates for customer and contractor. Empower Consultant, Zerodraft of CNY, Inc January, 2015 to April 2016 Empower Building Consultant for Zerodraft full time. Responsibilities included Empower NY audits which included testing, measuring and constructing a computer model to determine the Savings Investment Ratio of the proposed work. In-house training and proctoring for BPI in conjunction with Green Jobs Training Center in Howard Beach, NY. Six weeks getting the Commercial Division Fort Drum Project up and running from a building performance perspective dealing with writing protocols for testing, documenting issues and dealing with the standards and interpretation for a 2000 unit housing project. Responsibilities included creating curriculum on various topics in the industry, and delivering the curriculum in the classroom and in the labs for a complete training. Main technical areas of instruction include, auditing, building science, standards and compliance, insulation, and home diagnostic testing. Building Performance Consultant/Owner, Towpath House Techs, May 27, 2008 to Present Energy Engineer Consulting. Networked with other Raters across the north east to facilitate ratings, either by doing the computer modeling in REMRate or by data collection on site for the rater. I was a sub-contractor for Therma-View Infrared and Energy Consultants out of Williamsport, PA. Developing a modeling calculator to assist with TREAT/REMRate models, using a 3D interface and calculating the building data, and energy usage along with the building performance values that will take into account, the building performance data, heat load calculation and eventually the SIR for energy improvements. Currently just holding the DBA.
Building Performance Consultant, Zerodraft of CNY, Inc May 27, 2008 to January 2009 Energy Engineer for Zerodraft full time. Responsibilities included home performance audits in Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program which included testing, measuring and constructing a computer model to determine the Savings Investment Ration of the proposed work. Assisting the sales representatives with the proposed improvements involving heating and shell work. Also created a building performance knowledge base. Involved in auditing several multi-family buildings for Housing Visions and audited large low income hosing project in Buffalo. Both of these projects involved a general overview, and a vast array of improvements from shell (insulation and air sealing) to mechanical equipment.
Technical Field Representative, CSG, Inc March 2005 to April 4, 2008 Technical Field Representative for CSG full time. Responsibilities include Quality Assurance audits in both Home Performance with ENERGY STAR and ENERGY STAR labeled homes. Conducted Quality Assurance audits for the NY EmPower Program and the Clean & Tune Program during 2007 and into 2008. Designed a Building calculator in Excel that computes many of the values needed in diagnosing the house. Designed new data collection forms for each of the above programs, and most recently automated the data extract from CSG’s Home Check to the data collection forms, saving hours of work per week. Building Performance Technician, Green Homes America at EnTherm, February 2000 to March 2005. Hired as an insulation installer. Promoted to Insulation Crew Chief. Designed and built a cold air trap that is cheap, quick to manufacture and compact, designed and built a 220v power converter, that plugs into a dryer plug and gives 110v at the receptacle, designed and programmed an Excel spreadsheet the one page audit form and a supplemental page for additional information for TREAT, designed and programmed a TREAT based audit sheet in Excel. Won the Blower Door Setup competition in 2004 at the Northeast Affordable Comfort Seminar.
