Successfully litigated and first-chaired a variety of trial cases, ranging from the simple to the complex, in the New York City Housing Courts to enforce compliance with housing quality standards related to local and state laws.
Represented the Department to execute difficult, contentious negotiations, and drafted a large number of settlements with opposing attorneys that resolved matters in the Department’s favor.
Employed the use of enforcement devices such as restraining notices and subpoenas, and reviewed, revised, and approved agreements prepared by other attorneys.
Prepared Affirmations in Opposition to motions to vacate default judgments, complex briefs, motions, legal opinions, affidavits, memoranda, and other legal papers related to housing code violations.
Researched and prepared cases for trial, and argued them before courts and/or quasi-judicial bodies. Notable Accomplishments:
Conducted motion practice for over 1,000 cases in court, performed successful mediation and conflict resolution, and worked independently to implement new policies and procedures for the Department. Secured $500,000 from 2018-2019 through enforceable money judgments.
