I was the second shift TIG welder and was a robot operator. I worked production for a year and was required to read prints and hand weld parts as well as operate the robot. As well as TIG welded mild steel, stainless, and aluminum and used the Oxyacetylene cutting torch to cut out bad parts. I was responsible for changing out the tips, nozzles, collet and collet bodies, baffles, wire and feed wheels, shielding gas and regulators along with lines when needed. I was the facility welder at the prison and repaired / fabricated a number of structures and misc. Projects. I was responsible for maintaining and repairing all my equipment used. This includes gas lines, regulators, welders, torches, drill presses, chop saws, band saws, grinders, and anything else associated with the welding shop. Meanwhile, I would put orders together for metal and supplies needed for upcoming jobs. I took Safety Courses every three months and did most of the Safety inspections at the shop. I was also tasked with putting together drawings and estimates for projects. I was solely responsible for the fabrication, welding and what welding process to use. I was also responsible for teaching other inmates to weld and fabricate.
