• Interviews resident and/or resident’s designated representative and records their medical history and physical condition.
• Obtains resident’s vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, respiration and Oxygen saturation.
• Provides routine care for residents.
• Observes residents’ health, documents findings regularly and communicates changes with the doctors and family/designated representative.
• Reviews medical charts, allergies, medical history.
• Participates in assessments, reviews of standards and scope of practice with the privately hired RN
• Accompanies residents to their doctor’s appointments as needed.
• Obtains emergency services as needed.
• Performs CBG checks, administration of insulin on a sliding scale, diet management for blood glucose/ insulin levels
• Administers anticoagulation therapy via oral or subcutaneous therapy
• Manages Colostomies, obtains needed supplies, monitor and maintains integrity of the stoma.
• Provides wound care as ordered by the doctor and reviews protocols with RN.
• Prepares and administers nebulizer treatments, injections, suppositories and/or enemas.
• Foley Catheters as ordered by the doctor and monitors residents for signs or symptoms of infection, records urine output vs fluid intake and observes for signs of pain and/or discomfort. Reports changes to the doctor.
• Monitors eating habits of the residents and records weekly weight by weighing the residents or by measuring the upper arm circumference as necessary.
• Assembles the equipment like catheters, oxygen supplies, suctioning devices, CPAP machines.
