In addition to “Product Engineering” development in various industries, my role included the coordination and compliance with the respective governing agencies. Here the involvement was specific and dependent on the industry discipline and stage of the product in development. Notably:

Aircraft Seating - Composite Structures & TSO Certification (C39c)

In order to gain approval for the TSO (Technical Standard Order) tags, the seats must first pass FAR 16 (prt25). This involves 4g, 9g (side), 14g (vertical), and 16g (forward) dynamic test impact certification, along with Toxicity, Burn and Smoke material compliance. My involvement in these initiatives was to ensure the material; processes and test setup were in adherence and passed the requirements. Specifically, the component and assembly (kinematics) geometry of Aircraft specified Alum’ 6061, 7075 (and 2014A). Specific steel, such as 4130 and 4340 also needed the compliance.

Additional AS9100, Chapter 4, 7 and 9 (project management) were accommodated for the tracking of “Product Development”. This was essential to Engineering and Manufacturing tracking and identification of non-compliant parts. Composite components saw most “quality” inspections, owing to the nature of its substrate, fabrication (typ. pre-preg) and final use.

Implementation of VSM, S5 and HICK (Keizan) processes for safe, secure and efficient manufacturing. Monthly GAMP walks were conducted to assess improvements.

Summary to stake holders: Product, Project and Resource management through MOR highlighting ITCM, MRD, MRR, TRL, RAIL, SWOT, FEA etc. This covered budgets, performance and corrective action matrices.

Display in a prominent place: Official OSHA poster describing rights and responsibilities under OSH Act.

Establish a written, comprehensive hazard communication program that includes provisions for such things as container labeling, material safety data sheets, and an employee training program.

Inform employees of the existence, location, and availability of their medical and exposure records when employees first begin employment and at least annually thereafter, and to provide these records upon request. Implemented intranet service to communicate BOM between corporate and satellite offices.

Developed product support teams to cover inventory and JIT delivery.

Implement S5 and HICK (Keizan) processes for safe, secure and efficient manufacturing

Food & Beverage Industry: Beverage & Ice Machines (Pepsi / Coca-Cola)

Primary “Product Design” compliance was targeted for approval of both UL and NSF. Where applicable other agencies where adhered too such as JSA (Japan) and CE (Europe). The primary concerns were environmental and personal safety – electrical, sharp edges, material toxicity etc. This also covered aspects of labor laws, specific to product initiated in China.

In addition: I have significant (7+ Years) Structural Packaging and Branding Design Experience. Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Consumer Products and Food & Beverage.
