ESP Design:

Carried out ESP System design (starting with basic well data), by the commercial software (Sub Pump, Prosper, EPS-Flosystem), and identified various operable alternatives furnished thru vendor design. Selected appropriate Surface and Downhole Equipment, prepared procurement documents (Bill Of Material), including Specification of Surface Electrical Equipment and Downhole ESP Assembly, carried out technical evaluation of bids.

Performed various ESP Downhole Completion Designs, (appropriate to well conditions as, high gas and/ or water production), Inclined Hole ESP Completions, Bypass (Y-Tool) installations, Reverse Flow Water Injection ESP Completions (Packered ESP installation) and gravel pack assemblies. Dump Flood ESP Water Injection, Project leader, carrying out in 3 fields, conceptual design, field trials and supervision, thru Reda/ Schlumburger.

Surveillance:

Optimised Operating Parameters of Existing installations (manufactured by REDA, ESP and/or Centrilift) to keep ESPs running within operable range (ensuring no Down and/or Upthurst impeller operation), conducted troubleshooting tasks.

Carried out Failure Analysis of the installations failed to operate and redesigned ESP to the changed well conditions.

System Improvements:

Introduced ESP Well Testing (Calculation of change in PI, to help redesign ESP assembly, appropriate to changed well conditions).

Installed ESP Bypass System (Y-Tool) to facilitate wireline operations, in the presence of downhole ESP Assembly.

Installed ESP operated, downhole Reverse Flow Water Injection System (Packered ESP Assembly). Installed ESP in deviated hole (ESP assembly laying downside of wellbore). Designed ESP Assembly to produce high GOR (min. 500 Scf/bbl), by introducing Gas Handlers. Improved ESP run life to Avg. 580 days from original 260 days, by improving installation procedure (cable splicing techniques, introduction of cable clamps/tubing centralisers etc.) Enhanced ESP production by upsizing the existing installations (wherein, post VSD testing, PI verified to be higher than original design data) and introducing Gas Handlers. Established computerised ESP Inventory System, carried out ESP management by preparing regular Runlife Analysis Reports of existing installations, and devised Future Expansion Plan, targeting to 175 ESPs.

Performed system design, procured equipment and Carried out Coiled Tubing ESP Installations, as pilot projects (in 6 wells).

Prepared Contract Documents to operate ESP (for 64 nos. installed in Umm-Gudair field), by the Contractor on Lease Out basis, without sharing production. Progressive Cavity Pumping:

Carried out Sizing, Equipment Procurement, installation and operations of PCP system. Scada System:

Devised plan, prepared equipment specifications and procurement documents for connecting 200 ESP installations to scada system.

Gas-lifting:

Carried out complete Gas Lift System design, prepared equipment specifications, procured equipment, technically evaluated bids and supervised 8 gas lift installations, performed surveillance and monitored operation.

New Well Completions and Work-over Operations:

Carried out 102 well workovers & 45 new well completions (post Gulf War) to revive production. Surveillance/Monitoring the Existing Wells/Facilities : Detected anomalies in production and recommended the remedial measures for the existing wells to optimise production. Analysed/Monitored production test data (focussing on changes in production rate, water cut, production history match, and by reviewing performance of nearby wells). Monitored corrosion and scale deposition (by Calliper Survey) in the wellbore. Recommended the remedial measures as, changes in choke sizes and/or back pressure on the surface, workover requirements, including production logging, stimalation and injection of scale/ corrosion inhibitor. Technical Studies to Enhance Production:

Carried out technical studies (exclusively and/or part of team work) and established mechanism concerning optimisation of oil/gas recovery. Recommended workover well requirements in liasion with relevant depts.,devising annual workover palns (with emphasis on downhole well completion, well testing, production logging and subsequent surveillance plan). Worked out production enhancement measures as, reservoir stimulation, installation of Artificial Lifting Equipment (as ESP, Gaslift or PCP), and Water Injection requirements. Studied and recommended the improvements/ cost optimisation measures to the prevailing work practices, like coiled tubing operation, perforation and stimulation works etc. New Well Completion Plans for Undeveloped Fields:

Carried out conceptual design of wells/facilities for field development, as worked out the requirements of Total No. of wells, Type (Production/ Injection), specified the Completion Plans (as devaited hole, vertical or horizontal well bore and size of Tubing and Production Casing), Artificial Lift requirements, Surface Facilities design (pressure rating for X-Mas Tree/ Flowlines, complying to downstream facilities like separator, compressor and transit line). Carried out optimisation /simulation related to subsurface production/injection system in conjunction with well performance, surface facilities and reservoir simulation studies. Carried out Financial Exercises concerning cost estimates of drilling, workingover and abondonment of a well, surface facilities and relavant infra structure. Worked out Operating Cost Estimates based on production forecast, workover well requirements, Surface Facilities manintenece etc. over the field life.

Surface Safety System:

Designed, procured material & co-ordinated installation of Solar powered wellhead Safety System on 51 high-pressure wells, in accordance with relevant API/NACE codes. Flow lines Installation:

Designed flow lines with “Pipe Phase”, procured material, prepared contract documents, supervised construction on more than 250 wells.

Production Well Testing

Carried out production/GOR tests on 75 high-pressure sour service oil wells (containing GOR up to 1500 scf/bbl, and TD to 18000’). Carried out formation fracturing and stimulation to optimise production. Designed and implemented programmes for well testing, production logging and wireline operations, performed subsequent test analysis and reporting.

Dehydration/Desalting Facilities (Construction & Operation): Prepared Contract documents in Co-ordination with Engineering. Department, scrutinised contractor drawings, supervised the construction process & performance tested 13 plants, installed at various Gathering Centres, to treat wet crude (carrying max. 25% water cut in throughput).
