ACCOMPLISHMENTS
1. IMPLENTATION OF RENEWABLE ENERGY IN THE RAILWAY TRACTION AND ROLLING STOCK SECTION
Designing the wiring and advising on the electrical facilities for projects:- I managed to design and implemented the first solar commuter coach( NO.4166) in the Southern Region which is has its lights solar powered. I have further done other solar projects namely:-
Designed and implemented solar powered cabooses and
Designed and implemented for solar powered intercity coaches The solar caboose and commuter coach prototypes have been done successfully. Solar powered commuter coach was commissioned by the Minister of Transport Reference of project: https://solarquarter.com/2021/11/25/national-railways-of-zimbabwe-to-go- green-with-solar-system/
2. UPGRADING OF DE6 SHUNT LOCOMOTIVES TO MAINLINE OPERATIONS I worked with the projects engineer to come with a circuit to replace the obsolete transition propulsion circuit in DE6 shunt locomotives. We designed a circuit with the aid of a PLC and proximity sensor to replace the old circuit.
This innovation saved the company over $3Million as operations was hiring locomotives from from external companies who would charge $1 500 per day. Reference of project: https://structureanddesignzim.com/2021/06/28/nrz-converts-d6s-locomotives-to- cut-costs/
