HVAC DESIGN ENGINEER

Summary:

Role in brief: -

Design & Engineering:

Designing and detailed engineering of HVAC/ air pollution control system, Dust extraction system in various industrial sectors -Oil & Gas (on-shore/off-shore), Petrochemicals,), Nuclear Power Plants, Sub-Stations, Infrastructure buildings, Site Warehouse Buildings & High-Rise Buildings, etc.

Various activities performed are:

Develop HVAC Design basis, Specifications, Control Philosophies, Data sheets, Equipment list etc.

Design of HVAC for Non-plant and Plant Buildings, in coordination with structural, architectural, electrical, and other relevant disciplines.

Performing of designing air conditioning system, ventilation, and heating system.

Calculations of Heating & Cooling Loads following ASHRAE standards.

Design &Selection of AC equipment’s (DX & Chilled water type).

Duct system design by Equal Friction method.

Duct & Pipe sizing using McQuay Duct Size and Pipe Size design tools.

External Static pressure calculations (ESP), selection of fans & blowers.

Chiller plant design, Pipe sizing, Pump Head Calculations (Chilled water pump, Condenser pump). Design of chilled water systems.

Prepare Duct and Instrument Diagram’s (D&ID’s), & Cause and Effect Diagram.

Provide inputs to Designers for activities & preparation of HVAC related drawings.

Timely submission of all Preliminary design drawings as per the program schedule.

Responsible for interfacing between internal & external disciplines / parties (Engineering disciplines, project, Quality and Procurement Functions)

Prepare Material Request, TBE, and PR for HVAC equipment and Building subcontracts

Active Participation in HAZOP Workshops

Participation in FAT/SAT for Chillers, Pumps, AHU’s, Fans, Package units & split AC units etc.

Provide technical assistance as subject matter experts on Construction site activities, project management, procurement.

Design of HVAC system, BOQ, Specifications for reconciliation works and to check shop drawings for Mechanical services and as-built drawings.

Preparing HVAC design drawings as per field change requests and field change notices thru RFI’s for P&ID, Sequence of Operation, Equipment Schedules, Plans, Sections and Elevations.

Attending all meetings and following up of the work progress of the contractors.

Field Engineering:

Various activities performed are:

Review of documents received from Sub-contractors and Vendors.

Review and release of VDDR/EDDR documents.

Review of MAR’s (Material Acceptance Reports) or MDS’s (Material Data Submittal) for various equipment which issued by contractors or vendors.

RFI (Request for information) replying which raised by contractors however, there are any issues on site, in case if required to visit site and provide detailed design for modification.

Addressing issues through RFI’s, PCA (Potential Change Alerts) and field query raise by Construction Team and Contractors by conducting ocular site investigation, prepare required detail sketches and interpreting design documents.

As per site condition if required any major changes, inform to engineering and construction manager through PCA meeting for potential changes and preparing Scope of work, MTO, Justification and related sketches.

As discipline engineer responsible for HVAC System, air pollution control system, tunnel ventilation, HVAC control system / construction scope of work, procurement of HVAC equipment, data sheets, HVAC system installation design, cause & effect diagram, checking of design drawings and specifications, producing design packages, Preparation of Technical Specifications, Technical Bid Analysis of in accordance to contract & International codes and standards.

Carry-out Concept definition and engineering studies, design, scopes, and preparation of engineering documents as per approved standards / procedures.

Advice and support in the discipline engineering matters in expertise through all stages of projects.

Plan and co-ordinate activities of a team of engineers for providing technical services to project executing departments, including review of execution strategies.

Participate in technical assurance and standardization activities to ensure compliance to approved discipline standards.

Support to ensure that all applicable environmental and process and other safety technical policies are fully implemented.

Exposure to International standards like ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA codes etc.

Preparation of following FEED and detail engineering document:

Technical specification of the HVAC System and equipment

Design basis report of HVAC System

Heat Load calculations for selection of the HVAC equipment (with HAP or Elite software & with support ASHRAE standards) & Psychometric analysis document.

Optimization of Concept of suitable HVAC systems as per requirement like chilled water central plant, packaged air conditioning units, air handling units, Ductable split AC units, smoke extracts etc.

Air Flow drawings and D&IDs

Schedules and Technical Data sheet of selected equipment of the HVAC system

Calculation for selection of AHU, Chiller, RTU, chilled water pumps, expansion tank, CDU, pressurization ventilation system and negative pressurization for battery room etc.

Duct & piping sizing calculations

Duct layout and piping layout to calculate the pressure drop of the selected HVAC equipment

Material Requisition (MR) / Request for quotation (RFQ)/ TQ (Technical query) and Material Take off and

Selection of vendors for HVAC system / HVAC equipment

Scope matrix as per contract Site supervision.

Develop detailed design heat load calculations for HVAC, duct designing, plans, sections, Air-flow diagrams, external static pressure calculations, D&IDs, Prepare engineering data sheets, specifications, Material Requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations, Vendor Communication, Vendor Drawings and Data review, Communication with Client, Preparation of Engineering Drawings, Preparation of Reports, Project Site visit, Participating to the Vendor Shop Inspection and Testing at Vendor shop and Project site. Responsible for detailed design review and produce comments on contractor deliverable in due time, explain to contractor and follow up the implementation Liaise with other engineering disciplines to oversee all engineering processes in Construction, Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning phase, pre-commissioning, commissioning, required method statements /procedures, planning and preparation of operational test procedures. Construction teams to ensure timely completion of project.
