Employer: Tiffany Smith, MEDNAX; Alfredo Gei, MD; Sarah Bostick, WHNP Description: Documented patient-physician interactions and generated ultrasound reports to ensure a record of the patient’s medical care was accurate and current. This facilitated appropriate recommendations made to patients for planning their obstetric and high-risk care and management. This additionally allowed clinic operations to function smoothly with a patient’s entire history, assessment, and plan reflected in their charts. I was able to gain experience in obstetric and MFM care, as well as practice my writing skills by documenting approximately 100 patient visits per week.

Description: This project aims to introduce sexual health topics to high school students who are refugees in a culturally competent manner. A primary goal was to remove the stigma from topics such as sexually transmitted infections, menstrual hygiene, and consent between partners. Duties & Roles: Organized a team of volunteers and a partnership with Planned Parenthood, developed a program on sexual health topics relevant to high school students, taught and mentored students, secured funding from Clinton Global Initiative-University.

Description: Healthcare for the Homeless is a free clinic that serves homeless individuals in downtown Houston. It aims to provide long term sustenance and advocacy for its patients through catering to their complex and unique needs. THis clinic provides holistic care in the form of mental health aid, assistance in battling substance use, and helping those suffering from chronic homelessness. Duties & Roles: Communication liaison between patients and providers, helped patients fill out forms, answered patients’ questions, and assisted in administrative work. Helped conduct surveys on understanding patient needs and improving patient conditions in the clinic. Worked to strengthen patient relationships with providers for long term care to be provided more effectively.
