EXPERIENCE

1)2018 October – March 2021.

Position: Assistant Materials Engineer.

Company: Yooshin Engineering Corporation- APEC Consortium LTD Joint Venture.

Project: Rehabilitation of Airside Pavements and Airfield Ground Lighting at Moi International Airport Mombasa.

Manager: S.C HAN.

Specific role:

Supervise, monitor and assure strict adherence to construction drawings and technical specifications compliance of:

1)Earthworks; Inclusive of ground/ soil investigation.

2)Concrete – mix design to field verification of; Portland Cement Concrete (C-45), Structural cement concrete (C-25 and C-20), Blinding concrete (C-15), No fines concrete and Micro-concrete.

3)Asphalt - mix design to field verification of; Plant- Mix Asphaltic Base Course, Asphalt Concrete Surface Course and Polymer Modified Surface Course.

4)Underground water retaining tanks. Rain water storage tanks (500m3, 550m3and 3500m3)

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.1Responsible for all field activities including sampling, transportation and testing of materials in the field labs and production of testing results.

1.2Monitor quality and pattern of utilization of all materials incorporated in the main works.

1.3Make daily reports on utilization.

1.4Ensure compliance with relevant standards of construction, utilizing compliant materials and processes.

1.5Checking accuracy of outputs produced in compliance with established quality standards

1.6Review for approval all Work Method Statements and maintain knowledge on all quality assurance standards and monitor continuous application for all quality assurance processes and recommend corrective actions for all processes.

1.7Cross check all test results produced at the lab. ensuring that correct results are used for the right approval request, that computations are correct.

1.8Present verified laboratory results to the Materials Engineer who authenticates them and uses them for approval of works.

1.9Develop and review all standard test forms to be used during field and laboratory tests, QA/QC testing schedules and procedures and evaluate results as appropriate.

1.10Responsible for implementation of QA/QC Plans to ensure specified quality of engineering and construction.

1.11Responsible for establishing at the outset of quality procedures within specifications, sampling and testing of the works and all other QC/QA requirements

1.12Oversee and manage quality assessment of works and materials through regular and rigid laboratory tests and site visits.

1.13 Ensure specific quality standards are constantly met at all levels of construction projects.

1.14 Review construction practices and conventional methodologies and make recommendations where remedial action is required.

1.15 Conduct initial survey queries on sources of materials, ensuring quality and compliance with the specifications.

1.16 Work with various engineers and design experts for establishing procedures within tolerance limits for approval, sampling and testing of works and all other QA/QC requirements.

1.17 File the final results of lab testing of each section after they have been stored in the computer data bank.

1.18 Provide technical advice and assistance to Technicians and sub- contractors to ensure that economical and quality materials are tested in accordance to specifications

1.19 Update a monthly interim finished pavement layer progress quality chart.

1.20 Responsible for care of all laboratory equipment.

1.21 Writing daily and weekly lab activities reports.

2)2015 September – 2017 December.

Position: Materials technician.

Company: Adpi- APEC consortium LTD Joint Venture.

Project: Construction of Runway capacity, ILS upgrade and rehabilitation of Aircraft pavements at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Duties and Responsibilities:

2.1Deputize for the Materials technologist in all aspects.

2.2Assisted by the Laboratory technologist, monitor the activities of all staff, making sure tests are done correctly in accordance with relevant specifications and associated standards, results are produced and presented to the relevant parties on time.

2.3Responsible for all field activities including sampling, transportation and testing of materials in the field labs and production of testing results.

2.4Monitor quality and pattern of utilization of all materials incorporated in the main works.
