Improvement and modifications of an existing sugarcane juice extractor
An existing sugarcane juice extractor was studied and its problems identified. Poor maintainability of the extraction chamber, use of corrosive materials and insufficient force for crushing the sugarcane were the major problems identified. The problems identified were addressed through the redesigning and fabrication of the operating mechanism of the extractor, considering the physical properties and mechanical properties of the varieties of sugarcane in Nigeria so as to improve performance.
