I prefer to manage procurement proactively vs. reactively. I want to strategically plan business needs and negotiate the best buys BEFORE the business generates demand. I will engage the procurement staff to partner with other departments and create standard workflows, automate low spend/high transaction purchasing when it makes sense and focus on negotiating and contracting the high spend exceptions to reduce cost and increase efficiency with minimal head count.
