RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position held at Hillside Aluminum, controlling a fleet of Prime movers, custom built trailers and more, I had staff working on shift basis, we responsible for transporting solid aluminum to the stockyard located in the port for exporting as well as to the Bayside stockyard for the domestic market, we use to handle the transportation of Molten Metal from the Hillside smelter to the Bayside smelter as well, but not limited to whatever else needs to be transported on the clients behalf.
I used to liaise directly with BHP(South32) Casthouse, Commercial and carbon management daily at operational meetings,
All the prime movers were equipped with sat tracking and was monitored frequently, reports were produced for the clients/Auditors on irregular driving, speeding, Green band driving and keep in/out zones, the prime movers were also equipped with CCTV mobile cameras that use be monitored frequently. We were also RTMS (Road Transport management system) accredited and has been for several years.
Monthly reports are compiled for the client, re: tonnages transported, commodities in stock, Molten metal divulged. Condition of equipment, repairs and services,
Daily inspections of trucks and trailers were monitored 24/7.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Manage and ensure drivers are abiding by company policy, legal requirements, and according to the contract with our clients.
-Monitor and manage driver performance and behaviors against daily load plan requirements & KPI’s (e.g., cycle times, turn-around times and stoppages) for each vehicle.
-Ensure all required documentation e.g POD’s, load and off-load documents, fuel, toll, wash and weighbridge slips are collected, and couriered to Head Office timeously.
-Proactive Driver communications and daily debriefs,
-Monitor and manage driver rest periods, overtime and other statutory requirements.
-Track and monitor fleet regularly to ensure that drivers are adhering to schedules, and there is no unusual activity.
-Ensure fleet inspections are done daily via HVI.
-Ensure maintenance and repairs are carried out timeously.
-Liaise with fleet team to ensure that any safety critical items identified receive urgent attention to avoid danger to the driver and/or other road users.
-Monitor and report on fuel usage, and manage driver performance to achieve targets,
-Ensure that accidents/incidents are logged and reported to management.
-Liaise with the planning manager on load requirements (including route master-data updates) and manage the fleet and loads in accordance to such.
-Resolve any problems that arise to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
-Engage with Port/Mine management to understand and proactively mitigate against potential disruptions.
-Bid track, Trailersol and Iris were used to monitor and track drivers.
-Random Route checks were done by myself to mines (E.g Tharisa Mine) and back to Richards Bay.
