Qualified Paralegal and Business Management with a diploma in Paralegal Studies, education in Business and Administrative management and Specialty Diploma (w/Honors) in Civil Litigation from Ashworth College. Education includes Courses on Legal Analysis, Legal Interviewing, Investigations and Evidence, Law Office & Business Management, and Legal Research/Writing. Experience includes filing and litigating a history-making injunction as it relates to civil commitment proceedings in the State of Washington and founding a non-profit that provided resources and literature for incarcerated individuals and their families/support groups. Educated in a variety of Business related skills and legal principals, including constitutional, criminal, and tort law.

PROFESSIONAL GOALS

I would be extremely happy to work as a paralegal as I am truly passionate about the legal profession and about researching, investigating and writing. While I enjoy Criminal, Civil, Constitutional, Writ and Tort Law, and while I am very passionate about working in the legal filed, I also want to continue working with lawyers in civil commitment laws and I also want to be part of successful reintegration of offenders back into society.

Created Inventory of books and legal periodicals; managed and disseminated incoming and new materials; aided users with locating relevant law resources, and; assisted with Sheppardizing cases and laws.

Injunction & Contempt Work

Involvement in an Injunction that began in 1994 that was directed at bringing the conditions of confinement and treatment provisions, (including staff competency and institutional policy and procedure) within Constitutional standards. The Injunction was established after a jury unanimously found that the Special Commitment Center (SCC) had failed to provide residents with constitutionally adequate mental health treatment and more considerate conditions of confinement than those available to individuals serving a criminal sentence.
