Swiss Re America – Sourcing Manager US & Canada

Since April/2019

-Responsible for the management and implementation of Strategic Sourcing in the US and Canada, in liaison with the contracting Business Units, Finance, Risk Management and Legal & Compliance areas

-Has developed a very successful partnership with Business Units by bringing best of class solutions that meet their strategic, operational and financial needs

-Managed, within a few months, to get a seat-at-the-table with Senior Leadership and C-suite, actively participating in strategic discussions and decisions, in areas where Sourcing had previously very little involvement in the region

-Monitors, together with the expert areas, all risks related to external services providers, including AML, ITC and Fraud and all other aspects of overall Financial Risks, Governance, Information Security, Intellectual Property and Data Protection

-Manages, in close cooperation with the Legal Department, all aspects of the legal framework for sourcing contracts

-Manages and negotiates fees and commercial terms for a variety of engagements of mostly – but not limited to - IT services (Telco, Market Data, SaaS, PaaS, GLaaS, Software Development, Cloud Services etc.) and Professional Services (Consultants, Contractors, HR Services, Communication, Marketing etc.)

-Consistently delivers significant savings related to the external spend in the region (total annual spend of USD 380m)

Swiss Re America – Sourcing Manager Latin America

2015/2018

-Initiated and implemented all Strategic Sourcing Services (Contract, Vendor and Demand Management) to meet the business needs of Swiss Re in Latin America.

-Negotiated and agreed with local CFOs and COOs of Swiss Re in Brazil, Mexico and Colombia the best process set up to manage their external spend, in full alignment with their overall financial and business strategy. Specially for Brazil, there was significant improvement as they had critical issues related to their engagements with external providers. Now they have robust processes and controls in place.

-Hired and coached local professionals to work in alignment with Swiss Re's global sourcing strategy

-Stablished and virtually managed the sourcing team in Mexico City, which is designed to provide services for the whole Americas region

-After the built phase, has kept a high level of engagement on a C-suit level by constantly meeting and frequently surpassing stakeholder's expectations

Swiss Re America – Procurement Processes and Systems Manager –

2013/2015

-Managed and monitored all processes and the supporting System (Oracle iPro) for the US and UK regions related to external spending

-Achieved a significant increment on the quality of the technical services related to maintenance and continuous enhancement of the procurement system

-Regional responsible for the project that implemented the new global platform (Coupa) and the related process to manage the Sourcing to Pay cycle

-Managed relationships with all end users, Finance, Cost Center Owners, IT support and all other relevant stakeholders

Swiss Re Zurich – Business Manager

2010/2013

-Business manager for the France/Iberia market portfolio (France, Spain and Portugal) for Life & Health Reinsurance Business, working in close collaboration with Client Managers

-responsible for all contacts with primary insurers, Client Managers, Underwriters and the service provider center located in Bratislava/Slovakia in respect of reinsurance administration and claims handling

-Achieved a significant improvement on the service level provided out of the Bratislava service center in respect of Contract and Claims management, by coaching the local team and successfully managing the expectations of Client Managers and their respective clients

-Coordinated all interactions related to the managed portfolios with corresponding internal areas (legal, claims department, risk and actuarial management and finance)

Swiss Re America - Internal Consultant and Auditor

2006-2009

-Responsible, together with a team of external consultants, for the full documentation, risk assessment and control design of all Reinsurance Underwriting, Claims and Finance processes for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) purposes

-worked together with the head of Risk Management and a team of external consultants from PwC and KPMG in the Project which implemented SOX for Swiss Re America

-responsible for producing all documentation related to SOX Certification reporting according to the regulatory framework for all Swiss Re America Legal Entities

-SOX auditor for Swiss Re America

2005

-Business Expert in several projects related to process reengineering due to the implementation and management of new business applications for Latin American reinsurance operations, especially related to underwriting, technical accounting and claims web-based tools

-responsible for the quarterly reporting of Latin American reinsurance business and their consolidation within the Finance Hub in the U.S.

Swiss Re Mexico – Project Manager

2004

-responsible for Quality Management and Change Management in the project that, through the reengineering of business Management processes, implemented a Shared Services Center in Mexico City (to handle all reinsurance operational tasks for Latin America). The project was designed to meet primary insurers needs in terms of contract management, technical accounting and claims handling, in full alignment with services provided by Client Management and Underwriting teams

Swiss Re Brazil – Business Manager

2002-2003

-head of the Business Management Services in Brazil and in charge of that area in the project created to prepare Swiss Re's activities in the local market

-worked directly with Swiss Re Brazil’s Country Head, dealing with all the strategic issues for the Brazilian Market. Responsible for the implementation of the Business Management (Contract and Claims Management) and reorganization of the workflow of the administration of reinsurance operations

-worked with structured credit operations, which dealt with the structuring and underwriting of Financial Quota-shares, Loss Portfolio Transfers, Adverse Development Covers and tailor-made financial solutions (Finite Re)
