PROFESSIONAL PROFILE:
I matriculated at Alphendale Technical High School – East London in 1994 and started working as a loader for a sweets factory (Candy Tops). I worked there until I was accepted in the South African Navy. In 1997 I joined and completed my Military Basic Training the South African Navy (SA Navy). I successfully completed my N4 National Diploma in Engineering which includes a practical phase. In 2002 I qualified and passed my Shipwright Trade Test (SA Navy) which is equivalent to a Boilermakers Trade. In 2008 I resigned and relocated from Cape Town to Johannesburg. Once there, I was offered a position at RAM Manufacturing as a Boilermaker and fulfilled the role of team leader. I 2009 accepted an offer at Toolquip & Allied as an Industrial Sales Representative focusing on End-user customers. Due to my Welding background I conducted and scheduled demos and training for the various welding products and PPE within the Welding Division. In addition, I also focused on Abrasives, Hand Tools, Power Tools, Band Saw Blades, Light Machinery and Heavy Machinery. I have proven my competence through hard work and dedication in establishing my own customer base. Because I am customer focused and thrive on relationship building, I was promoted to Welding Product Specialist. This role included assisting both internal and external representatives with welding products and do basic fault finding on welding machines and welding torches in workshops and training centers. After being retrenched in 2016 I decided to invest and start AK Industrial Supplies in Johannesburg, supplying Welding, PPE, Abrasives, Hand Tools, Power Tools, as well as, Industrial and Household Cleaning Products. When my wife was retrenched in 2020, we decided to move back to East London.
