Introduction

My career began at Barlow's in the Domestic Appliance Industry, with refrigeration being my specialty. I was first a Product Engineer (National Higher Diploma Mechanical Engineering T4) and progressed into Production Manager. I was involved in design, prototyping, tooling and implementation. My Operations/Production Management Diploma stood me in good standing for my Production Manager role. Using, World Class Manufacturing Methods and LEAN principles, JIT and Kanban with a MRP and later Triton ordering system. Please see my CV.

In terms of construction for large mining houses, site and head office based, I have had extensive experience in site supervision, management, project management and planning, in terms of bulk earthworks, civils, structural steelwork, mechanical, piping and E & I. My experience, planning wise, ranges from feasibility studies, design, tender, adjudication, through to contract award and implementation and then construction programs, as well as the integration of contractor programs into the main project schedule. This includes job specific in-depth programs and control programs when needed. I have compiled the WBS coding to extract the required alternate WBS information by writing coding. I have also done forensic planning of projects, tracking of the baselined program and cash flow, as well as earned value reporting. Expediting critical path is my forte, with the understanding of all disciplines of construction. In Terms of design and specification, I have also been a Mechanical Engineer, as well as lead Engineer. Planning is my passion!

I have had extensive experience in the EPCM field, working for TWP, Fox Projects and ELB, from feasibility through to project implementation and handover. Most projects have been carried out for Anglo Platinum, Glencore Xstrata and projects in Africa. I have represented Anglo Platinum as the construction manager on different projects, using the NEC and FIDIC contracts. Standard project procedures were followed, namely time, quality, safety and cost. Daily diaries and SVR’s in terms of change management were maintained.

Coal Feasibility Studies for the Witbank area, Lime Plant Construction in Zambia, Platinum Mining and Process plant EPCM, Chrome/Vanadium process plants in South Africa and a Gold Plant in Ghana have been my main projects. My roles have been Project Manager, Mechanical Engineer, Project lead Engineer, Project Planner and Commissioning Manager over different contracts as well as different consultancies.

In Terms of ECSA Registration all my documents are in place and with 23 years post graduate experience. I do not foresee a problem completing the process. I too am eligible to obtain my Government Certificate of Competency (GCC).
