Coach Sears,

Each of my professional experiences have brought to light my deep love for the game of basketball. By adding me to your program, you will be adding a member who has been willing to sacrifice financial benefits, as a former Athletic Administrator, to pursue a career in the game that I love.

After serving 2 years as an Athletic Director, I took a Graduate Assistant position at Madonna University. At Madonna, I was able to establish an active role in recruiting, creating opponent scouts through Synergy and player development with student-athletes in our program. Through mentorship from the Madonna coaching staff, I was able to take the lead to bring in NYSPHSAA Class A Section 2 Tournament MVP, Ozzy DeJesus. For scout, I was able to provide film to direct the staff to a win over NAIA #2 ranked team Indiana Wesleyan in 2019. By bringing me on your staff, you will be adding a member who has proven his ability to turn his passion into positive outcomes for a college basketball program. Outside of my time at Madonna, I have spent the last two years as a Director with PGC Basketball (Point Guard College). My experiences with PGC have given me the ability to work on my communication to small and large groups. By adding me to your program, you will be adding a confident and competent communicator in relation to basketball player and team development.

Each of these experiences has molded me into the person and coach I am today. I believe I would be a valuable asset to your program because of the growth mindset that pairs with my passion for the game of basketball. I want to thank you for taking the time to read my Resume, and I hope you will consider me as the next Assistant Coach. Thank you,

Dan Decker

This letter is to recommend that you consider bringing Dan Decker on to your staff as your next Assistant Coach. My relationship with Dan has evolved over the years from being his coach to now being a colleague and friend. Dan has many characteristics that I believe make him an ideal candidate for a men’s basketball assistant position, but I will focus on what I believe are two of his strongest. First, Dan’s work ethic is consistently intense. His high school and collegiate playing career was founded on grueling workouts that were meticulously planned and adhered to. Dan has applied this characteristic of a consistently intense work ethic to his pursuits as a growing young leader and coach. Second, Dan’s attitude of ‘all in’ coupled with a humble spirit make him a culture enhancer. In high school, Dan was a basketball player, but competed on the track team as a way to increase his athleticism. After Dan’s basketball career concluded there did not seem to be a compelling reason for him to compete on the track team in the spring; however Dan felt compelled to be a ‘value-adding’ member to that team. His participation that year helped moved the track program through a difficult spring and its future success is in many ways attributed to Dan’s unselfish involvement. I believe that your men’s basketball program would be enhanced by the presence of Dan Decker. You will be engaging a young man with a consistently intense work ethic and a humble ‘all in’ attitude that will enhance your culture. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me. Respectfully,

Chris Hobbs, CMAA, Ed.S.

To Whom It May Concern:

I'm writing this letter to recommend that you consider Dan Decker to serve as your next Assistant Coach. He is knowledgeable about the game of basketball and possesses many admirable characteristics that would make him a great addition to your staff! Dan is a tireless worker. I saw this first hand as a college teammate of his. His daily discipline and determination allowed him to maximize his gifts and abilities and master his craft. His commitment developed habits that now carry over to his personal life and professional career as a coach, athletic director, and teacher. He gives attention to detail and is unwilling to settle, both qualities that will enhance your program. Dan also has an incredible approach to being a part of a team. He is hungry, humble, and smart. He is eager to learn and grow and will be a first-class representative of your program during his time as a Graduate Assistant and beyond as he carries on your legacy wherever he might go. He shows humility through his willingness to listen and in how he serves others. Dan has a plethora of basketball experience whether playing, coaching, or instructing camps that equip him to be a valuable basketball asset. To whom it may concern,

It is a privilege to write a letter of recommendation for Dan Decker. I have known Dan for 10 years. I was his college basketball coach for two years and I am currently his principal at the school where he teaches.

Dan is hard worker. He is diligent with details. He has been the Athletics Director of our school for the past two years. He has done this role while teaching full time. He is organized and communicates with parents/coaches in an efficient manner. He leads our athletic department by serving our coaches, he is a servant leader. Dan is an effective communicator. He has worked at Point Guard College for the past few summers. He has polished his communication skills while working at Point Guard College. I have seen tremendous growth in his command of a group when he communicates in front of people. He is clear and concise when he speaks. Dan is dependable and honest. If you give him a job to do he will complete it to the best of his ability. You do not have to concern yourself if the task will be completed on time or done well. I never have to question Dan's integrity. He is a man of high character; he is always spot on with his recollection of events or situations that he has to give an account.

I give Dan my highest recommendation. He has made our school a better school while he taught here and served in the role of Athletics Director. Sincerely,

Michael Show
