While employed at Centex, I worked as a superintendent on many major construction projects. I worked independently to supervise the construction of the Court Rooms and Judge’s private chambers at the United States Federal Courthouse in Washington DC. I supervised the building of the off-site mockup and the production construction of the final product in three different court rooms. All of the rooms were entirely fit-out with custom millwork.

I was involved in evaluating employee performance, establishing employee performance expectations, training goals and development objectives. My input was also critical to employee compensation increases and promotions. Enforcement of Company policy and procedures was also one of my responsibilities, including monitoring of the construction budget and GC expenses and making adjustments accordingly.

I was tasked with the completion of the end of several projects which can be the most difficult part of the job. I would work with a small crew under my supervision to complete the punch list and all remaining items listed by the Owner to achieve Substantial Completion of the Project and receive final payment. I provided schedules to the Subcontractors for the performance of their work and for coordination of trades. I worked in the field to resolved design and constructability issues by proposing solutions and following through with the Architect and Structural Engineers for approval an incorporation into the project documents. I also worked to incorporate extensive Change Orders into the construction of the projects and to evaluate cost and schedule of changes. As a representative of the general contractor, I always worked to provide a safe work place for all of the trades to achieve success in completion of the subcontract work. I enforced standards and procedures inspecting work in place and helping to develop work plans for all activities on the site and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

I was responsible for field supervision of the construction on major construction projects including supervision of the subcontractors and the younger employees at Clark Construction. My responsibilities included quality control, safety of Clark personnel and subcontractor personnel, scheduling inspections, planning the construction activities including progress schedules, coordination of the trades, resolution of design issues from discovery of the problem through the RFI process, development of field problem solutions, training younger field supervisors, notifications to subcontractors, and more.

I used my extensive experience in the field to train younger co-workers to be future managers and manage the subcontractors in the performance of they subcontract work. I reported directly to the lead Project Superintendent. I was instrumental in the completion of the detailed punch-lists on several projects independently working with the subcontractors and Clark forces to close every open item out and receive final payment from the Owner. Owner satisfaction was always my first priority within the project budget.

During my employment at ATCO, I was responsible for independently completing subcontract work on many commercial and residential projects. I had as many as 20 men working in my crews working on various construction activities including framing, roofing, drywall installation, kitchen cabinet installation, building stairs, exterior siding, insulation work and more. I was responsible for the quality of the work and for the safety of my crews. I planned the work and the methods for working safely, sometimes many stories above the ground. I also scheduled the manpower and ordered all material to support the operations that were being completed.
