Philanthropies Lead Microsoft Philanthropies MEA- MCC October 2019– To Date ROLE OVERVIEW

As Philanthropies Lead for the Middle East and Africa, Multi- Country Cluster (MCC) subsidiary, consisting of over 55 countries across Sub-Saharan Africa (except South Africa & Egypt). I am saddled with responsibility of developing the Philanthropies strategy and implementation plans for the subsidiary. The execution of our core priorities, i.e., digital skills and employability, AI for Good, as well as Employee Engagement programs with non- profits, scaling these priorities through strategic partnerships while aligning these priorities with internal stakeholders to maximize impact with the business objectives. ACHIEVEMENTS:

• Project managed the development of a written case study for the Nigerian women Techsters program, which seeks to empower the next generation of African women to drive the fourth industrial revolution.

- January 2020.

• Successfully completed the Nigeria Women Techsters program in collaboration with Tech4dev. The program designed to train and skill up 2,400 women, between the ages of 16 -40 living in underserved communities across 12 states in Nigeria, with three focal areas of web and mobile development, game development, and embedded systems. On completion of the program 2,475 women were directly impacted, with 5% of them are currently building a tech start-up (same as working in Tech enabled organisation), 70% started a career in STEM and 25% are in a STEM related course. - December 2019.

• Project managed the development of a video case study for the Coding for Employment program, which showcased the impact of the program and was featured at 2019 African Economic Conference in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. - December 2019.

As the Marketing and Communications Coordinator –Philanthropies for Microsoft in the Middle East Africa. I was responsible for Microsoft’s Social Good Campaigns, Marketing and Communications for Philanthropies/Government Affairs to both internal and external audiences in the region, with key emphasis on showing and telling our impact stories across the region. Communications Lead Microsoft Nigeria July 2014–September 2018 ROLE OVERVIEW

I was responsible for the strategic design, implementation, and management of a range of online and off- line marketing and communication strategies for Microsoft Nigeria. In 2014, Microsoft Nigeria was conferred with a standalone subsidiary status, and with a direct report into the Middle East and Africa (MEA) regional HQ. I was saddled with the responsibility of telling the stories that make both internal and external audiences fall in love with the Microsoft brand and its offerings while protecting the company’s image and reputation. Bringing Microsoft’s bold ambitions to life and advancing the perception of the company through creative storytelling both on-line and off-line. Leveraging our owned channels, influencers that publish at scale and employees. Other tasked includes:

• Developed a comprehensive executive communications plan that encompassed relevant messaging platforms, events execution, speaking engagement and media training. To ensure the Microsoft Nigeria leadership team had the appropriate support during media engagements and were consistent and aligned to the overall communications strategy and goal of the business.

• Collaborated with the global communication team for alignment and coordination of key corporate messages.

• Designed briefing documents and crafted stories that speak to the core of the Microsoft brand and its impact in the community.

• Engaged and managed relationships with traditional and new media influencers, analysts, consumers, partners, academics, government officials, community agencies and employees.

• Drove awareness for both internal and external audiences on Microsoft’s work as it related to public advocacy and philanthropy.

• Engaged and managed expectations of key spokespeople in line with our core messaging and narratives.

• Created and implemented Microsoft’s communications strategy and plan for companywide campaigns and business groups.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

• Designed the overall marketing communications undertakings and provided an extensive array of strategic communications and marketing support for the firm to our Business Partners. Page 3 of 7

• Managed the communications and stakeholder’s engagement for the launch of Microsoft’s First Global Customer Service Support Centre in Africa (Lagos, Nigeria). This was a collaboration between Tek Experts, a global leader in customer technical support and Microsoft. This new centre will support our Microsoft’s Azure customers in the EMEA region and the east coast of the US.

• Designed and built media relations with the blogger’s community in Nigeria. Planned and executed the several Microsoft bloggers meet-up, with the aim of fostering a cordial relationship with bloggers. These group of individuals have an unspoken authority in the media space, one that they have earned through persistence in a severely in-perfect media landscape in Nigeria.

• Managed the media engagements for Microsoft Corporate Executives during their visit to Nigeria - Jean- Phillipe Courtois, Executive Vice-President and President, Microsoft Global Sales, Marketing & Operations during his two-time working visit to Nigeria in February 2014 and May 2016.

• Designed and produced several visual appealing video footages, in my quest to tell stories that make people fall in love with the Microsoft brand and the impact we are making in Nigeria. One of which was a best practice video contents for Abiola Olaniran, CEO Gamsole. At that time, he was and still is the only African with over ten million downloads from the windows store for his games built on the windows platform. • Managed the media relations for Microsoft during Africa’s biggest startup showcase DEMO Africa when it was hosted twice in Nigeria – September 2014/August 2015.

• Managed the relationship with diverse stakeholders; private sector, community organizations, international partners and governments which have led to securing key partnership deals for our initiatives with major entities.

• Managed several media tours of both traditional and online influencers from Nigeria to Microsoft HQ in Redmond, Washington US and other regional activities, such as BETT in the Middle East. Public Relations Lead Microsoft Anglophone, West Africa March 2013-June 2014 ROLE OVERVIEW

Being the Public Relations Lead for Microsoft Anglophone West Africa and reporting into a multi-cluster country subsidiary West East and Central Africa (WECA), I was responsible for developing the systems, procedures and operational, execution of the PR plan for Microsoft Anglophone West Africa (Nigeria & Ghana). As support resource in the marketing organization, I was responsible for designing and executing regional public relations, internal communications, messaging, newsletters, case studies and video projects that promotes and reinforces the Microsoft Brand. ACHIEVEMENTS:

Rolled out the Microsoft Journalist Academy, which was developed to upscale the knowledge base of journalists in Nigeria and Ghana on new trends in the tech space and create more visibility for the Microsoft Brand. - September 2013/June 2014.

As Market Analyst, I was responsible for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data, formulating reports and making recommendations based on the research findings. I managed the market knowledge and insights generation process for the business, in other to develop a strong understanding of the different end-user segments. I provided the Sales and Marketing team with accurate and timely channel/category/ territorial reports by interpreting and analyzing both commercial and market research data. I managed the Sales and Marketing activity calendar, ensuring all activities are planned promptly and in line with the marketing plan for the Business.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

• Managed the first ever research project carried out in Lafarge Nigeria as a means of defining its Route-To-Market strategy. – January 2013.

Public Relations/Media Manager. Samsung Electronics West Africa. June 2010 – May 2012 ROLE OVERVIEW

As Public Relations/Media Manager, I was saddled with the responsibility of executing Public Relations plans and programs for the Corporate Marketing unit, as agreed and set out by the business and liaising with PR agency in managing the image of the organization. Additionally, I managed the media buying process for all marketing campaigns across the business and executed on all marketing and sponsorship briefs leveraging sponsored properties and events to ensure sponsorship objectives are achieved. ACHIEVEMENTS:

• Designed, managed, and executed on the Olympics Torchbearer Relay Campaign Project. Where I was tasked with identifying ten individuals from Nigeria and Ghana who have impacted their community through their work with young people and the less privileged. - May 2012.

• Managed the annual Samsung week project both in Lagos and Port-Harcourt, respectively. Where an estimated one million dollars ($1,000,000) in revenue was achieved during the weeklong event which also included grassroots football competition, visits to the motherless and displaced children home. – September 2011.

• Managed and activated the end-to-end sponsorship deal worth one million dollars ($1,000,000) with the then Nigeria Football Association and the unveiling ceremony of Samsung as the Official Electronics Company to all the Nigerian National Football Teams as part of the company’s strategy

(Public Private Partnership (PPP) to connect with the passion points of Nigerians, in August 2011.

• Pioneered the sponsorship deal for the Samsung Classic Lounge project, a 5-hour daily radio program on Classic 97.3 FM which was a platform for education and entertainment (Edutainment) to what has been described as the busiest period during the day using Classic tunes to achieve bonding with listeners and to generate TOMA for the Samsung Brand in Nigeria – May 2011 to November 2011 (7 months).

• Designed and implemented the media and stakeholders unveiling ceremony of the first-ever Samsung branded tablet in the Country “the Samsung Galaxy Tablet 7.0” this was done in collaboration with Etisalat. - December 2010

• I got an altruist award and was recognized as part of the SWAT team that managed a fire outbreak at the Samsung Electronics West Africa office space which was engulfed by fire. Resource Marketing Executive. Subaru Motors Nigeria Limited. August 2009 – May 2010 ROLE OVERVIEW

As the Resource Marketing Executive, I was responsible for the management of the sales and stock reports and other operational documents. I monitored the brand progress along the consumer funnel and made quarterly analysis and deductions on same to recommend key insights to the business. I conducted and analyzed quantitative and qualitative research to understand consumer needs, trends, habits, and segmentation. ACHIEVEMENTS:

• Team member, that successfully launched into the Nigerian market, the MY2010 Subaru legacy and the Legacy Outback brand of Subaru premium sedan models in November 2009.
