At Damelin I became equipped with all the necessary skills to become a perfectly well rounded journalist/content producer. Here I delved deep into the world of news production, broadcast journalism, media law and even took a short course in Zulu to properly prepare me for the South African news/media world.

At my high school I completed seven subjects, namely, English, Afrikaans, Mathematics, Physical Science, Geography, and Life Science. While at Fred Norman, I was the recipient of multiple awards and diploma’s for my academic performance, I was also on the school’s top ten student list almost annually.

General News Journalist Briefly News
AUGUST 2020 – CURRENT
My duties at Briefly News include producing around 12 general news articles a day that are made up of between 400 – 450 words. I also do interviews to produce exclusive articles for the online publication at least once a week. My other responsibilities at Briefly News includes posting content on social media that helps to grow the page and keep current followers engaged with the brand. I also source my own viral news stories to help grow the publication’s audiences.

My responsibilities at w24 included but were not limited to producing written and visual content for the publication that not only captivated but entertained over 80 000 of its readers. There I also attended news meetings and generated creative ideas to keep the brand relevant. I also became proficient in using content management systems as wells as gained valuable administrative skills. My time at w24 has given me key experience with interviewing people of high importance, attending multiple media events and it has also broadened my network of industry related contacts.

At CallForce, I was a senior language consultant who taught English to Chinese students. My duties included ensuring students were able to read English, make use of correct pronunciation and also participate in lessons. My time as a consultant taught me a lot about Asian culture, helped me develop my ability as a teacher and enhanced my command of the English language.

At University radio station VOWfm I was a junior marketer who had worked to broaden VOW’s readership by curating events, introducing competitions and coming up with clever promotions.
During my stay with VOW I also gained extensive knowledge about radio/broadcast journalism and discovered my passion for all things content production and media as a whole.
