As a Consultant, I provided services to the School Board of Trustees in matters concerning the Schools’ Program Development and Accreditation as a new Charter School in Manhattan, New York. Specific duties included but not limited to the executing and administering the policies of the School as set out in the granting charter. Functional responsibilities included control of the office of the Head of School with the duties, responsibilities and authority usually attached thereto and in accordance with the bylaws and policies of the school.

During the period 2002 - 2005 I was enrolled as a PhD student in the faculty of Theory and Policy Studies. During that period I was also employed as a Learning Resource Teacher fulfilling a number of Long Term Teaching Positions.

My previous experience had not touched into the diverse and varied aspects of Special Education. My efforts were directed to gaining that valuable experience to better compliment my professional experience.

Learning Resource Teacher 2004 - 2005 John Cabot Secondary School Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board

A Member of Academic Resource Department responsible to provide service to secondary school students so that diverse learning needs of the school community are met. The programs offered include: Transition from elementary school to post-secondary programs and to the world of work. Support to students with learning difficulties in essential and locally developed courses in English, Mathematics, Science and Learning Strategies. Support to teachers in providing accommodations to learning, assessment and evaluation.

Learning Support Teacher - 2002 – 2003 Waterloo Catholic District School Board

I was employed as a teacher for secondary students identified as being at risk. These students were often diagnosed with mental or psychological disorders. Instruction took place in clinical settings and as part of a team consisting of Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Social Workers, School Officials’ and Hospital Care workers.

I fulfilled the role of Learning Support Teacher in a self-contained classroom of 12 identified students. These elementary students ranging from grade 7 to grade 12 were students identified through the IPRC process as having exceptionalities in communication. Included in this group were students with limited or impaired hearing. These students were working on expectations articulated in their Individual Education Plans. I functioned as an integral part of the Student Resource Team.

Headmaster 1995 – 2001 Weldon Park Academy London, Ontario

The Chief Executive Officer responsible for all operational and academic issues of the corporation. Weldon Park Academy is an International Baccalaureate coeducational university preparatory school. The school provides academic level programmes from pre-school to grade 12 for over 470 students. Actively provided leadership for a staff of 51 teachers and fifteen administrative staff.

Accomplishments;

• Founder of the school

• Reviewed, evaluated and implemented an integrated and enhanced curriculum from pre-school to secondary school graduation

• Generated a surplus of revenue over expenditures in each of the first five years of operations totalling over 1.5 million dollars

• Generated better than 100% growth in revenues and student population in each of the school’s first three years of operation

• Successfully negotiated a five-year contractual agreement and a comprehensive Human Resources Policy

• Successfully implemented comprehensive Entrance Test requirements for new admissions, increasing the academic quality of students in the school

• Established a Code of Conduct Manual in a collaborative method with teachers, parents, students and community experts. Created a series of communication handbooks for students, staff and parents

• Established a framework for collaborative curriculum and programme review with the creation of divisional leaders

• Managed the acquisition of a permanent school site including creating both marketing and financial feasibility studies, site review, negotiation of purchase, appointment of consultants and project management teams as well as significant interaction with municipal governments regarding zoning, student safety, management of heritage and historical issues and ongoing land use and community relationships

• Presented accreditation of the school as a member of the Canadian Association of Independent Schools, the Ontario Conference of Independent Schools and the European Council of International Schools

CHAIRMAN, COMMUNITY SERVICES COUNCIL, YORK REGION 1992 - 1995

Appointed by the Provincial Government as Chairman of the Board to lead this community based, provincially funded organization for the coordination and development of a strategic plan for childcare and a regional official plan around education, recreation land use, and human service issues facing residents of York Region. The Council is responsible for over 250 volunteers, 20 service agencies and a yearly budge exceeding $800,000. Responsibilities included promoting the organization throughout the community, acting as spokesperson on issues of policy, supervising staff, providing leadership to the Board of Directors, establishing formal working relationships with Regional Council, District Department, and the United Way.

CHAIRMAN, PLANNING COMMITTEE COMMUNITY SERVICES COUNCIL 1989 - 1991

The mandate of the committee was to develop and monitor the operational planning process. To review project proposals through developmental stages and make recommendations to the Board of Directors. The Councils broad purposes are to develop and promote educational standards and to provide responsible institutional and programme evaluation and accreditation for the Canadian Association of Independent schools.

CHAPLAIN/EUCHARISTIC MINISTER - ST. PETER’S PARISH

As a member of the Eucharistic Ministry Team was personally responsible for the delivery and administering of the Eucharist to local shut-ins, parishioners who are unable to attend Mass services.Also responsible for assisting in the administering of Holy Communion at Regular Sunday Mass Services.
