I am currently working as a HV power supply engineer at Advanced Energy (2 years). Design HV (500 – 20KV supplies using common PWM controllers. Worked with some resonant converter topologies.
My responsibilities included the following:
Redesign modify and evaluate new and alternate components for circuit boards (HV supplies). Evaluations included HV cap performance (voltage compression), HV diodes, PWM controllers, and micro controllers.
I work with marketing to establish new product inputs from customers. My experience as an applications engineer taught me how to evaluate product feasibility.
I participate in all facets of the NPI process. Design and schematic review including all updates for PCB and mechanical designers,
Work with UL on all certifications of power supplies.
Analyze products by using HALT and HASS test (ESS).
Work with marketing on new product datasheets and user manuals.
Evaluate new designs to ensure prototypes are to specification.
Work with test and manufacturing departments to validate product release.

My involvement at Toyota included the specification, design and marketing of LED lighting products. Products included recessed down lights and under cabinet fixtures.

My title was Business Development Manager for IC products related to lighting and audio applications. In this position I visited with key customers for the purpose of designing in IC’s and developing specifications for new IC products.
NXP/Philips Semiconductors: 1985 to 2012 (LI, NY)
For the past seven years I have been involved with all facets of solid state lighting. My responsibilities included interfacing with lighting customers, product definition, application notes and wired and wireless application demos.
I also interfaced with LED manufactures to validate performance of the NXP led drivers. This includes LED board designs, thermal, driver and optical testing (lumens/watt).
Researched and developed specifications for the MR16 LED driver based on different LED types from all of the major LED manufactures. In the case of Cree I tested the MT-G series LED.
I have attended and participated at both SSL and LFI for the past six years.
The past 20 years I was a general FAE covering all of Philips semiconductor products. Products coverage included microcontrollers (8051,RISC & ARM), RF (front ends, modulators/demodulators), RFID, analog and digital ICs, programmable logic and discrete components (Bi Polar and MOSFET transistors, SCR, triacs, and diodes).
Additional experience includes SPI, II-C UART & Wireless protocols.
I worked directly to define new products with NXP business lines defining new products.
I am also experienced in Off-line, buck/boost & resonant power supply designs.
Additional job responsibilities include interfacing with distribution sales force and applications engineers. I also handled customer seminars, web seminars, solving customer issues with products.
