Job Role: work alongside a clinical practitioner responding to 999 calls attending every kind of accident and emergency, sometimes covering considerable distances, under normal and emergency driving conditions to get to the scene as quickly and as safely as possible. Base 33 is a community based youth project, supporting young people from challenging backgrounds. My Role involves me mentoring and supporting young people with social and emotional issues. This has required me to have a CRB check and in-house training on issues such as health and safety, manual handling, food hygiene and listening and communication skills.
Papptaya Orphanage: Thailand
2 Weeks voluntary work in Thailand supporting young children with disabilities, street children and young people with compromised lifestyles. This involved good communications skills across different cultures, listening skills and interpersonal skills along with an awareness of cultural differences and disabilities. I was also involved in helping increase awareness of the plight of young people in different countries by going on radio and being involved in producing a newspaper report and presentations to the public.
