University of Pompeu Fabra, Intern

(Tangier Building)

Summer 2019

Barcelona, Spain

Utilized Python and Raspberry Pi to refine code, test, and reconfigure wiring and servo motors on MeArm robotic arms to be used for the university’s summer school program.

Gained understanding of how robots operate using ROS.

Utilized Github and Linux’s Ubuntu whilst working towards operating the BCN3D MOVEO 3D-printed robotic arm for the purpose of testing precision and accuracy for potential use in surgery on patients suffering from epilepsy.

Wired BCN3D MOVEO arm using Arduino Mega microcontroller with RAMPS 1.4 shield and TB6560 stepper motor drivers.

Attended summer school program seminars given by European research leaders exercising the applicability of machine learning in various niches of the biomedical industry.

Participated in team projects in which MeArm robots were used to simulate robotic cranial surgery and, subsequently, simulated potential brain reactions via finite element analysis.

Experienced a foreign company culture in which action took precedence over planning, patience was a key trait, and comradery blurred distinctive hierarchical roles.

Immersed myself in European culture, where meals and friendship serve as a foundation, and developed a more open mind to potential future relations with foreign companies or work partners.
