PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

1. EGA Al Taweelah Power plant January 2013 – to date

I am working in EGA Al Taweelah Power plant as Senior Instrument Technician. EGA Al Taweelah Power plant is a modern combined cycle power plant (3300 MW) with 10 combined cycle Gas Turbines(9FA), 10 HRSG (heat recovery steam generators) and 4 steam turbines(C7 & C5) controlled by Mark Vie DCS. RO plant, Gas compressors, Utilities (cooling towers, instrument air compressors etc.). My responsibilities are to assist operation during shift duty for startups and shutdown activities and to maintain plant availability of standby production capacity. I am also responsible to perform preventive, predictive, breakdown maintenance. I am responsible to troubleshoot any emergency condition in case of failure of DCS/PLC components or controllers or any other electronics communication failures. I am also looking additional responsibility of Instrument Inventory, record keeping, ordering, inspection, and spares as on backup as well as consumable items. Working on SAP for generating closing transferring notifications and orders related to maintenance and record man hours. Withdrawing material from warehouse and assisting engineers for spare ordering.

2. Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) Jabal Ali Power Station Dubai (JAPS) Instrument and Control Foreman “G” Station December, 2006 – to January 2013

. I worked in Power complex as Instrument & Control Forman. My responsibilities are related with maintenance and troubleshooting of Instrumentation as well as DCS, PLC, BMS and turbine control systems for Gas turbines, Desalinations, steam turbines and Reverse osmosis plant. I was responsible for talking PTW and assigning jobs to subordinates and Co-ordination with operations and other maintenance departments for planning, execution of jobs during emergencies or planned outages and dealing with contractors. Assistance to engineers to maintain inventory and Training of Junior staff as well.

WORKING DETAILS

1. Field Instrumentation

I have good approach to resolving the calibration & maintenance problems of local & remote (measuring and controlling) instruments.

Transmitters: Electronic, pneumatic and smart series transmitter (Rosemont, Bailey, ABB, Vega, Endress Hauser, Yokogawa, Siemens, Krohne, and Foxboro etc) i.e. pressure, temperature, level, flow, ultrasonic level transmitter (E&H). Magflow, capacitance, displacer type level transmitters.

Analyzers: CEMS (Siemens, Teledyne, ABB), Oxygen analyzer, Gas chromatograph (Rosemount), H2S analyzer, Hydrocarbon analyzer, Moisture analyzer, PH analyzer, Conductivity analyzer, Chlorine analyzer, Turbidity analyzer, dissolve O2, silica, and sodium analyzers.

Switches: Pressure switches (Diaphragm, Bourdon tube Type). Level switches (Ultrasonic, float types), flow switch (paddle type), temperature switches (bimetallic, capillary type).

Sensors: Magnetic pickups, RTD, flame scanner, thermocouples, proximity type switches and speed monitors.

Transducer: Pressure transducer, I/P converter, P/I converters, load cells.

Positioners: Calibration and troubleshooting of different type of Positioners (Fisher, Masonelion, Bailey, Moore, Valtek, ABB, Siemens etc) both smart and Pneumatic.

Control Valves: Maintenance and troubleshooting of control valves. Pneumatic, hydraulic, motor operated Valves (MOV) etc.

Controllers: I have worked on local controllers pneumatic and electronic for configuration and PID tuning.

Distribution Control System (DCS) and Programmable logic controller (PLC)

I have been involved in following activities.

Adding of new component in field & control system.

Troubleshooting DCS/PLC hardware failures and identify and rectify problem by tracing in Logic.

BOILERS

I have clear concept of Aux Boiler, HRSG or WHRB and related control loops. Worked on Burner Management System (BMS) Allen Bradley, GE fanuc for the safe startup and shutdown. I have clear concept of the startup permissive for boiler. Installation and checking of flame scanners and Igniters. Wide experience of problems solving in startup sequences.

Vibration Monitoring (Bentley Nevada 3300/3500/7200 System)

Characteristics checking, Installation, troubleshooting of probes proximiter and extension cables, adjustment of set point for alert and danger for monitor.

I have sound knowledge of P&IDs, Ladder logic, functional block diagrams, Electrical hardware drawings, cause and effects and loop diagrams and utilize Hart communicator 275, 375 & 475 for configuration of field instrumentation and loop testing purposes.
