RESEARCH PROJECT “Discriminatory s t a i n i ng of i intercellular l i p i d droplets i n l i v i ng c e l ls by malonitrile derivatives “ Excess calorie intake and lifestyle changes are the main culprits for metabolic disorders like NAFLD, obesity, insulin resistance, and diabetes. Systematic circulation of triglycerides is served as the main storage for intracellular neutral lipids in the liver. Monitoring the formation of lipid droplets inside the live cells could be a tool for the early detection of metabolic diseases involves neutral lipid accumulation. In our present study, we developed several malonitrile for the intercellular staining of lipid droplets in different cell line. The present synthesized dye has a large stock shift along with a high signal to background ratio. The idea of the project to develop a NIR emissive dye for the staining of lipid droplets in vivo with high photostability, low toxicity, and high signal to background ratio.
