•Part of the Enterprise Support Program (ESP). The purpose of this team was to provide premium level support to the twenty-five (25) largest revenue customers of the Corporation, including Boeing, Fidelity, QWEST, SBC, and Verizon. This role coordinated Failure Analysis, and if required Root Cause Analysis for OPEN systems (HP, Redhat Linux, SuSe Linux, SUN, and Windows) along with MVS, OS390, zVM, and zOS systems.

•Supported storage systems running on Linux and has interfaced mainframes with Linux System as well as designed and optimized Linux Open Source Systems for various large customers

•As part of a team effort, the role was responsible to train and give guidance to new team members in the basic knowledge of MVS, OS390, and zOS, which was necessary to support their large account customers. I covered the ACF2 issues for all those customers that used ACF2 R13 or less.

•Created an automated audit of CA-ACF2, CA-Top Secret, and IBM’s RACF. This process included the installation verification of all three (3) security packages to insure that the DoD and National Security Standards were always in compliance. The process was written totally in REXX.

•Worked in an environment with over 40 LPARS running zVM, OS390 2.10 and z/OS. This also included several HSM plex’s, over 25 Automatic Tape Libraries (Silo’s), over 20 terabyte of DASD with a tape library that exceeded 500,000 volumes. Was part of the Capacity Group that included Tape and DASD management and Workload management. Wrote several assembler routines. Was charged with responding to SRR’s as part of the DISA STIG.

•Installed and/or supported various versions of OS390 2.4 thru 2.10.

•Installed and supported OMEGAMON as well as BMC’s Mainview using SMP/e.

•Installation of CA-Top Secret configuration, and maintenance, which included being the Security Administrator. Trained the security administrators to take over the day-to-day administration activities.

•Supported CA-OPS/MVS by writing rules to massively reduce operator intervention.

•Wrote many ACF2 security exits in IBM ASSEMBLER. Wrote a Cobol Prototype for ACF2/CICS as a basis for programmers to secure their applications with multiple functions.

•Installed DB2 and DB2/CONNECT and was the initial DBA and the SYSADM for the company as they were starting a long term DB2 project with IBM as the lead contractor. Converted system to WLM. Also buffer turning, and in some cases increasing the amount of redundant data to help the overall performance of the application.

•As part of the ongoing Hardware upgrades did several HCD gens to support a StorageTek SVA and the de-gen’d of all the old 3390's. Also performed all the DASD migration using TDMF in two (2) working days.

•Worked on a VSAM Recovery Utility. This product is written in Object-Oriented Assembler and C++. The purpose of the product is to allow backward and forward recovery of any VSAM file defined to a Ruleset in either the batch or CICS environment.

Chase Bank of Texas – Systems Programmer --- Dec 1984 – Aug 1997

Worked On-Site in Houston, TX

•Installed and supported various applications and systems software on a MVS/ESA, OS/390 platform. These included various communications systems including CONNECT: Direct (NDM), CONNECT: Mailbox, CONNECT: SPC.

•Installed and worked on the conversion from no session manager to CL/Supersession. When Chemical Bank acquired Texas Commerce Bank, converted from CL/Supersession to CA-Teleview, and CA-TPX. Installed and supported CA1 (TMS) and CA7. All the exits written in IBM ASSEMBLER.

•Responsible for VTAM 4.3 and NCP 7.5. This included the tuning of the 4 cross-domains across 2 mainframes. We tuned and monitored the system using OMEGAMON/VTAM, and NCPMON.

•Installed, and supported CPCS as well as worked on the development of the Sort Pattern Generator all written in IBM ASSEMBLER. Coded Stacker Control Instructions (SCI) for the 8 reader/sorters the bank utilized. My prime responsibility was the MICR task that is in Multi-tasking ASSEMBLER.

•Wrote several feasibility studies, justifications and general design documents for the purchase of software and hardware for the MVS platform. Was the architect of the external communions systems for the external customers to transmit their various data to the bank for processing. This involved ordering the equipment. Oversaw the installation and certification of the various links required to make the project a success.

•Additionally, designed and implemented full computer resource charge back CPU time, print lines, tape mounts, disk accesses, tape accesses, CICS transactions, IMS Transactions, along with other billable resources such as NDM and NOMAD2.

•Installed CPCS and helped customize CPCS. Also worked on a product TCB sold named the Sort Pattern Generator
