I am writing to inquire about a position as a Hospitalist within your organization. I will be completing my IM residency at SSM St. Mary’s hospital internal medicine residency program St. Louis, MO in June of 2021. I am looking for a position to start shortly thereafter. It took for me several years to realize that internal medicine is my biggest interest.
I graduated from medical school in Honduras and I wanted to have the opportunity to take care of patients with multiple comorbidities, to have diagnostic challenges in my everyday work. I understood that I can have it only in general practice. My residency has greatly expanded my knowledge and clinical expertise in the field of internal medicine. I directly participate in care of patients with acute problems. Our patients have a combination of high medical complexity along with multiple social issues. I have learned that the appropriate care of these patients cannot be done without a multidisciplinary approach and I am looking for working in a team of physicians and healthcare practitioners with the same goals as mine. I have intensive care exposure with 5 months of ICU experience and have developed procedures skill along with the bedside ultrasound which I use on a daily basis as a part of a patient’ assessment. My residency program is strongly affiliated with Saint Louis University Medical School and I have been thoroughly involved with the teaching of residents and medical students. My evaluations during my training have been Exemplary and I have been noted for my skill in working as part of a team. I am looking for an opportunity to contribute to the care of patients and to participate in quality improvement efforts within an organization. My desire is to continue to advance my knowledge and the treatment options for patients with different pathologies.
I appreciate your consideration of my request for a position within your organization. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely,
Francis R. Contreras, MD
