WORK EXPERIENCE
JIJI Supermarkets & Wholesale DULUTH, GA, USA KINSHASA, CONGO
DIRECTOR OF FINANCE & OPERATIONS May 2007 - Present
Directed and developed financial models and processes for efficient financial reporting; set goals, business metrics, financial ratios, and operational standards. Conducted multifaceted financial statement analysis, organized variance analysis of individual department’s performance relative to their milestones. These efforts resulted in more timely, accurate, and actionable reporting packages.
Guaranteed sustained growth in the Free Cash Flow, which enabled the revival of dividend payouts and their substantial progression to the delight of the shareholders. (Payout ratio starting at 18% and reached a peak of 72%.)
Reduced supply chain costs by consolidating warehouses and renegotiating import contracts and freight resulting in savings that improved the “cost of goods sold” by $750,000 for the first two years. Subsequently, the inventory turnover was improved by 20%, which in turn reduced working capital needs by an average of $500,000 annually.
Devised a pricing strategy that significantly improved competitive position and increased margin by 0.30% during my first year; did so by instituting an effective marketing intelligence program.
Successfully ensured cash flow is appropriate for the organization's operations to the great satisfaction of the sales and operations departments given prior cash issues that disrupted goal achievements.
Pioneered a result-driven culture that revolves around target achievements. In that way, initiated an outstanding overhaul of the organization chart ( 250 employees) during the second year of my tenure.
IBM CORP. ARMONK, NY
SENIOR FINANCIAL ANALYST HQ Finance (Treasury Dept.) Jun 2002 - May 2007
Led the launch of new integrated information technologies for the preparation of consolidated A/R reports and the real-time monitoring of collection efforts for the Americas Region.
Reduced the Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) from 32.4 days in 1Q2005 to 30.6 days in 1Q2006 contributing to a 3.7% increase in cash flow.
Improved the efficiency of the A/R reporting processes and communication by redesigning financial models to reduce layers of complexity. The renewed models exceeded expectations by providing not only streamlined aggregate info but also practical details on the DSO metrics for the Americas Region.
FINANCIAL ANALYST Software Group Finance Sep 1999 - Jun 2002
Worked with both the finance and marketing organizations in the geographies as well as IBM HQ staff here in the US to effectively coordinate and/or drive all budget, forecast, and target issues for the group investment in marketing programs (2003 Budget: $307 million).
Refined communication and financial reporting efficiency by actively investigating through the financial systems to pull data, summarize them and report them with a qualitative interpretation into monthly financial packages that included relevant analysis such as actuals vs budget/forecast variances, financial ratios, achievement results, projections, a summary of current issues and proposed action plans, etc.
Demonstrated diversified experience in performing various analyses in the financial evaluation of projects (Discounted Cash Flow, NPV, EVA, Asset–Based Valuation, Working Capital Requirement) along with the preparation of corresponding complex financial reports.
