Projects
Senior Design Project I
First to identify ways to reduce employee fatigue within the Industrial Plant Building 4 of Spirit AeroSystems. Find best safety practices with moving tools by eliminating tools sliding across floor (flooring wear and tear) and identify some pre-staged floor outlines and best practice techniques for loading, unloading, and positioning tools upon the room entry phase, build phase, and post bagging and removal from room phase. Finally, identify new stretching techniques and job aids to reduce injuries in the workplace.
Senior Design Project II
The original intent of our process improvement project was to try and show the students of WSU that different foods have different carbon footprints. Our team targeted providing knowledge to the student body for students to make more informed decisions about what they are eating and perhaps choosing more carbon footprint friendly meals. With the intent of working with Chartwells to get their recipes in order to calculate carbon footprints of different recipes. Unfortunately, due to the previously stated COVID-19 pandemic, this is no longer possible. Continuing with the same process of how to provide knowledge to the student body, we focused on continuing estimation efforts. We then calculated mass in kilograms broke down recipes into nutrients and the percentage of meat, veggies, grains, bread, and fruits. Next, we can build a model to help us determine the carbon footprints of dishes. Placed first in the ISME Senior Design Awards.
System Simulation Project
The project goal was to model a simulation for the AMC Theater concession area. Validation of the system will be based on the time in the system for all type of customers and the server’s utilizations percentage. Basically, how long the customers spend on the concession station.
Safety Engineering Project
The project was called “Hazard Identification and Risk Analysis” where the group chose one section of a house, identify the possible hazards, evaluate the risk and do risk analysis (fishbone, Five why’s, etc.). After evaluating the risk analysis, the group presented possible solutions for the hazard using Hierarchy of Controls method.
