I was responsible for the training of 26 staff optometrists. I was heavily involved in co-managing Lasik, Cataract, General Ophthalmology, Primary Care and Specialty Referral patients including the Pediatric and Vision Therapy cases. I conducted educational Lasik seminars, hosted online chats, and appeared on different media related programs to discuss vision and education.

Overall scope of practice

My career has spanned over various fields from academics, organizational optometry to clinical practice. The last 8 years were spent being heavily involved in academia and volunteering with the World Council of Optometry as well as the Eastern Mediterranean Council of Optometry. Lecturing and holding symposia on specialized topics in optometry as well as activating Mobile Clinics for underserved areas and initiating the Master’s Level program MSc in Clinical Optometry, the highest in the region as well as conducting thesis work for Master’s Publications. Under the medical branch of optometry my work included co-management of refractive surgery patients since the inception of Lasik in 1996 . I was very heavily involved in refractive surgery, glaucoma and cataract surgeries co management working with over 20 ophthalmologists caring for post op patients. Conducting comprehensive eye exams, permanent dry eye treatments, ocular disease diagnosis and management, and contact lens fittings cosmetic and medical. I worked with hard to fit corneas for people with Corneal Anomalies, Scars, Keratoconus, Irregular corneas, Post Refractive Surgery cases, Regular and Custom Rigid Gas Permeable lenses, and all brands of Soft Contact Lens fits.

In private practice I additionally diagnosed and treated children with Visual Efficiency Problems, Visual Information Processing Deficits and Dyslexia. Children with academic difficulties and attention deficit problems that had a visual dysfunction were seen on a weekly basis for a full therapy session along with home exercises that were assigned weekly.

For the Optics and Optometry Department. Head of Department for 3 branches under the Faculty of Health Sciences. Overlooking the administrative, advising and academic development for all Optics and Optometry students along with teaching duties establishing 13 courses that

Were never developed for the department as well as starting their Masters’ Program. Promotional activities for the department included Radio and TV appearances, observance of World Sight Day, workshops, seminars, first ever Optometric Symposium in the country and for the subsequent 4 years. International Keynote speakers including the WCO past president Dr.Robert Chappell and the IACLE president Dr Shehzad Naroo.

I was a member of the part time faculty at the Southern California College of Optometry. I taught fourth year Optometry students in their clinical rotations. I was involved in lecturing, proctoring and evaluating students prior to graduation.

I love to travel, spend time with my family, engage in outdoor activities with my three girls, go hiking and swimming, play volleyball, and table tennis.
