Project Description:

The Riyadh Metro project is the largest metro project in the region. It is divided in to three (3) packages and Package 3 was awarded to FAST Riyadh Metro Alliance. The FAST Riyadh Metro Alliance is a consortium comprising multi-national groups known in their respective field of expertise.

Construction: FCC (Leader), Samsung C&T, Strukton, Rolling Stock and railway providers: Alstom

Designers: Atkins, Typsa and Setec Group

Package 3 is comprised of Lines 4, 5 and 6. It has an estimated length of 12.9km for the underground and 58.7km for elevated viaducts with 25 no. of stations.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Preparing a site Safety plan.

Preparing Safety Check List for Project.

Preparing Different Work Safety Procedure for The Project.

Preparing a Risk Assessment for The Project.

Preparing a JSA & Permits for Different Jobs on a Project.

Safety Meeting with Main contractor and client.

Daily safety officer's duty assigns.

Weekly toolbox meeting attendees with safety officers.

Monthly safety meeting with client

Weekly safety report submitted to contractor and client.

Monthly safety report submitted to contractor and client.

Arrange safety orientation for new workers who joined the project.

Maintain all HSE records.

Arrange safety training according to project requirements.

Accident investigation and report submitted to the client.

Monthly safety audit with safety officers and report submitted to the client.

Reminding all workers that the safety is the best policy and target is zero accident.

Investigate and report on all near miss incidents and accidents to find the root cause and recommend means of preventing recurrence

Daily inspection of scaffoldings and all other equipment.

Conducting emergency mock drills.

Initiate safety activities and campaigns to raise safety awareness of employees and subcontractors.

Prepare and provide adequate safety training to employees and subcontractors to improve their safety behavior.

Coordinate, and implement effective HSE policies, guidelines and procedures.

Assist project team in identifying project safety concerns

Oversee, monitor and report HSE activity and performance, with focus on leading and lagging indicators

Inspect and rectify any unsafe action condition at work place.

Ensure availability of First aid kits and Fire extinguishers at all work place.

Preparing Sign Boards & Banners regarding safety.

Ensure safe operating instruments are available at working place.

Closely observation to make sure those first aid welfare facilities properly maintained.

Monitor/track, incident and injury reports and participate in incident investigations as required

Appraise the Project Manager at all times as to the status of significant HSE issues.

Preparation of daily safety reports.

Safety audit on site, instruction and training the company and contractor staff.

Monitor all workers if they are wearing safety paraphernalia at job site.

Make daily reports regarding safety in the job site.

Advice the workers for any hazards and use of proper PPE.

Strictly implementation of better housekeeping for the job site.

Inspection of necessary work permit whenever to begin the job.

Inspection of electrical tools first aid tools and lifting equipment’s etc.

Implementing safety measure to increase safety and reduce risk

Health and safety inspection such as conduct daily weekly monthly

Induction training for new employees

Conducting safety awareness and tool box talks for all employees

Monitors the prevailing working condition and ensures safe working practices

Inspecting and ensuring that all tools tackle and equipment are safe and up to the standard before commencement of each job
