Engineering Program Manager – Corporate Engineering (Mar 2015 – Jan 2020)

Delivered 2 major global projects for parts cleanup and technical centers evaluation process. Headed corporate specifications organization comprising of Part & BOM creation, Configuration Management and Drafting, to provide direction towards organizational process consistency among multiple projects and product teams. Global Process owner for the deployment of Manufacturing BOM from Engineering BOM at multiple manufacturing locations following consistent rules and processes.

Assessed ~12K engine parts into various buckets (RIL, Safety, Source Approval, and others) and establish long-term strategy to cover Part Nos in defined groups to yield in rapid progress toward closure. General Manager – Product Engineering (Dec 2010 – Feb 2015)

Led Product Engineering function, supervised and managed Engineering Team to outline, design, and manufacture innovative products along with managing changes to the current products. Oversaw technical support for new and existing product development and validation via APQP process. Initiated projects to formulate and enhance manufacturing methods as well as processes for generation of different product lines. Headed strategic planning and delivered technical guidance in developing new products maintaining the engineering resources, test labs, rapid prototyping and CAD workstations. Managed annual $3M engineering budget towards product development and validation. Member of Company Leadership Team which took decisions and provided direction short-term and long-term business. Hired and developed engineers and in the team on an ongoing basis. Oversaw the manufacturing processes in plant at suppliers and reviewed process changes w.r.t fixturing and tooling.

Developed improved diesel engine meeting CMVR BS3 emission norms, with mechanical fuel system extended oil drain interval, CPCB2 emission compliant engines for 80 KVA power generation, CEV BS3 emission compliant engines of 99,125 and 150 hp, 180 hp for Marine, and CMVR B5.9 BS4.

Helped company gain market share and customer trust by leading Task Team to assess all causes of oil thickening and developed new combustion recipe with new piston and injector design, for the diesel engines.

Formed Special Task Team to spot parts and assemblies to be standardized across different engines, which condensed complications on engine assembly thru a structured design review and drawing change process.

Deployed robust engineering change management and new product introduction process, with a multi department team, resulting in 30% reduction in implementation timelines and 20% reduction in reworks.

Annually developed AOP (Annual operating Plan) identifying engineering projects, resource planning, budging and controls. Reviewed and monitored the AOP on an ongoing basis.

Formed a plant manufacturing and supplier support engineering team, which assessed the manufacturing process, quality systems, product compliance and deviations.

Main interface and point of contact between customer and plant while managing all new installation quality audits for new vehicle and equipment builds. Conceptualized, developed, and delivered new engine aggregate parts for prototyping for new products in tandem with release of bill of material.

Received Cummings, Inc. Chairman’s Award for Technical Lead in generating 4-cylinder B-series engines and developing 6B engines for marine applications.
