To ensure all the work conducted in the section, meet the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025, accreditation bodies and specific criterion.

To review & update current versions of method of analysis, SOPS's & to prepare new methods & SOP's whenever required.

To ensure that the tests are carried out as per different standard specifications/methods i.e. IS, ISO, APHA, IP, ICUMSA, AOAC, USP.

To ensure the scheduled microbiological testing of water and environmental monitoring of controlled areas as per defined SOP's; ensure the conduct of monthly activities(with requisite documentation) essential for microbial testing like preparation of cultures(live organisms), inoculums preparation for positive control & fumigation of Microbiology Lab.

To review Log books routinely & check for compliance as defined in SOP's for various activities like Autoclave Operation, Media Preparation, Culture & Inoculum Preparation, temperature recording & calibration records of instruments, LAF cleaning records etc.

To plan & budget CAPEX items & other consumables, spares, AMC's etc. for Microbiology Lab; indent & procure these items in co-ordination with Purchase pro-actively aiding in smooth functioning of Lab.

Working with Quality In charge and Technical In charge in updating the instrument user record, maintenance record, maintaining the calibration status of instruments and supporting devices. Ensuring the execution of scheduled maintenance plans and coordination with instrument engineer in case of break down/malfunction.

Approving and validating biological field reports and ensuring that they are delivered within the committed TAT and as per the requirement agreed in test request form.

Monitor the performance of team, identify the training needs and provide training to the other microbiologists and attendants as per the requirement of the section.

To undertake audits, inspection and investigations as per the requirement of organization and liaise with QA department of the lab and provide fullest support to them in order to maintain the integrity of the quality management system and quality of the services to the customers.

To ensure effective handling & Disposal of bio-hazardous organisms & waste, which could otherwise pose a serious health hazard.

Good knowledge on Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) regulation, ISO 22000 & Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
