Personal Profile
An accomplished scientist with broad expertise in analytical chemistry, diverse bioactive natural products chemistry, various chemical assay methods development and validation and enabling technologies. Highly self-motivated, results-oriented, strategic thinking Ph.D. professional with 24+ years of work experience seeking a new and challenging opportunity.
Professional Experience
2007 to August 04, 2020. Analytical Scientist, Discovery Analytics, Bayer, Woodland, CA- involved in development and validation of various high throughput chemical assay methods, isolation and structural elucidation of bioactive natural products from plants and plants cell cultures as well as studies on bio-synthetic pathways using high field 1D- and 2D-NMR, LC/MS/MS, GC/MS, GC-SPME/ToF-MS and various chromatographic techniques. Developed and organized projects including sample preparation, monitoring projects status as well as chemicals and equipment. Actively participated for complex analyses in the laboratory or in different projects meetings for strategic discussions or any problems that may arise with group members and others. Maintained complex laboratory instruments and a safe working environment.
2001 to 2007. Chemist, Florida State Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Tallahassee. Involved in pesticides chemistry including analysis of acids and urea herbicides, carbamates, glyphosates, toxins (microcystins) using LC/MS/MS, LC/MS, GC/MS, GC/FID, HPLC and Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Developed or optimized processes and procedures to lead more efficient workflow and higher quality data in the laboratory. Reviewed SOP, raw data, calculations and documented all reports through LIMS.
1996 to 2001. Research Scientist, Walker Cancer Research Institute Inc., Natural Products Laboratory, Tallahassee, FL. Involved in extraction, isolation, purification, structure elucidation and bioassay for anti-cancer agents from plant and marine organisms using LC/MS/UV, high-field 2D-NMR and various types of chromatography techniques.
1994 to 1996. Research Associate II, Department of Plant Breeding and Biometry, Cornell University, Ithaca. Involved in the project-"Chemical basis for host recognition by the parasitic plant Orobanche". Purification methodologies (various chromatography and HPLC), spectroscopic techniques [UV, GC/FT-IR, high-field NMR (1H, 13C and 2D), and GC/MS] and germination of parasite's seeds bioassay have been used during investigations.
1993 to 1994. Post-doctoral Chemist, Chemistry and Life Sciences, Research Triangle Institute, Natural Products Group, North Carolina. Involved in plant antitumor and antimutagen projects under the guidance of Drs. Monroe E. Wall and M.C. Wani. In these projects my primary research was the isolation, purification and structure elucidation of antitumor and antimutagenic agents from terrestrial plants. Purification methodologies (column chromatography, CCD, TLC, analytical and preparative HPLC) and spectroscopic techniques (UV, IR, high-field NMR including 2D NMR, HRMS) have been used during investigations. Also actively involved in the bioassay for antimutagenic agents.
