Moved to San Antonio and continued my practice as a general practitioner, Insurance Defense Litigator; Real Estate, Probate, General Litigation and office practice. I slowed down my practice while contemplating retirement.
I am a Hearing Examiner, for the Texas Education Agency where I am assigned cases on appeals from school districts and personnel on terminations and contracts. After hearing the evidence I rule on the merits of the appeal and make a Recommendation.
Over the years of practice, I have concentrated on litigation, real estate and document preparation.
I have tried numerous cases over the years, and I have always been first chair. While at the law firm of Hirsch, Glover, Robinson and Sheiness, I was the managing partner for the South Texas operations which included approximately 15 lawyers that worked under my supervision and trained them to become trial lawyers. I represented Tenneco and Fina in some oil and gas litigation which included claims of non-production, and right of ways. I also defended a pipeline company on an explosion in Zapata County. While at Hirsch Glover, I, along with Jay Hirsch, would visit out carriers to drum up business and organize cle’s for the adjusters at their company offices. I was also a title examiner during my early years in Alice, Texas. I prepared all home loan documents, and was never criticized by the examiners on any of the documents. The preparation of the loan documents was in conjunction with my position as general counsel for a savings bank, which I sold years later.
While at Lopez Peterson, I had approximately 7 associates that were under my supervision and direction for trial and motions. I have attended deposition of experts, eyewitnesses, corporate management, truckers, physicians, doctors and product manufacturers. I have sat in trial training young lawyers on how to handle the depositions and the smooth flow of questioning in a logical and legal approach to the specific case. The cases have ranged from auto accidents to construction defects, product liability, professional liability and transportation accidents. Since 2012 when I moved to San Antonio, I was an outside counsel for Allstate to 2018. My last trial was in Eagle Pass, Maverick County, in 2017 where I obtained a defense verdict. I continue to have a library of experts and trial personnel for trial. Recently, I tried a Will contest in Jim Wells County, where I represented the Executrix and settled when jury was to begin deliberations. It was a 3 week trial.
