Resume:

Richard Brigandi

Pittsburgh PA, *****

(***) *** - 2141

adegqy@r.postjobfree.com

My name is Richard Brigandi, and I would like to express my interest in applying for this position. I am planning to graduate from the University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering in early July. I am taking my final class, control systems, remotely and I do not have set lecture times; this means that I am currently able to begin a full time position. I have worked hard to complete a major in bioengineering (medical product development), a minor in mechanical engineering, and a certificate for simulations in mechanical design (ANSYS/ SOLIDWORKS). I am seeking a full time entry level position where I can gain experience and move towards a career in engineering, mechanical design, and medical product development.

From my time at Pitt, I have been educated in core bioengineering, but I am truly thankful for my experiences with mechanical engineering, simulations, and medical product design and management. My most valuable experience at Pitt was my senior design project. We had to develop our own medical product starting with ethnography/identifying unmet clinical needs and ending with the completion of our product’s Design History File with mock preparations for FDA 510(k) Premarket Notification submission. We developed a needle sleeve to increase the rigidity of 27-gauge spinal needles which are flimsy and challenging to handle for ENTs delivering local anesthesia in the sinuses. I participated in the ethnography process, user needs and intended uses, risk and hazard identification, regulatory strategizing, designing initial protypes of our product on SOLIDWORKs, validating our product, and I performed ANSYS Workbench simulations as part of our verification testing. Through this project I became familiar with guidelines from the FDA Code of Federal Regulations 21.

I have worked in 3 research institutions; I began as early as just before my freshman year of college. At my first lab, an immunology lab I first became familiar with wet lab techniques and the research environment. I later completed an educational research internship at a neuroscience histology lab where I grew more comfortable with working in a research setting, working under a mentor to learn specialized lab skills, and juggling multiple tasks. In this histology lab, I had to learn each step of the histology and staining process, a few staining protocols, and how to operate a Vibratome. This academic year, I pivoted and worked on a project for a radiofrequency imaging research group because of my interest in diagnostic RF medical imaging and to support my bioengineering degree. I investigated image processing techniques on MATLAB and built RF coils for magnetic resonance imaging. My diverse research experience and education have prepared me for fast-paced working environments, critical thinking challenges, and maintaining efficiency through teamwork. Individually, I am a strong abstract and logical thinker, highly adaptable, and hardworking. I am applying because I believe that this position would provide me with an invaluable experience to complement and further develop my current skills and knowledge. I appreciate any consideration and hope to hear back in the near future. Best,

Richard Brigandi
