RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Graduate Research
Assistant
Fraunhofer-Institut für Mikrostruktur von Werkstoffen und Systemen IMWS, Halle, Germany (Nov 2018 – July 2019)
Worked on:
Literature review of 3-D printing of glass-reinforced polymer composites
Mechanical testing of fiber-reinforced composites
Analysis of composite materials using X-ray CT scans
Correlating mechanical properties of composite materials to their microstructure
Internship Raman Research Institute, Bangalore,India (Oct 2015 – May 2016) Worked on:
Design and Fabrication of Coordination measurement machine
Design of Telescopic panels
Design and Fabrication of mount for Stereoscopic camera PROJECTS/SEMINARS
Master thesis “Analysis of microstructure of 3-D printed fiber-reinforced composites using X-ray computed tomography” (2018-2019)
Effects of various meso/microstructure features of 3-D printed fiber- reinforced polymer composites were observed using computed tomography. Features such as porosity and fiber orientation of the composite samples were correlated to the tensile mechanical properties of the samples. Bachelor
projects
“Study on effect of constrained turbulence in a pool boiling heat transfer” (2014)
A boiler prototype was designed, and turbulence was introduced to water inside the boiler. An increase in heat transfer rate was observed and a net increase in efficiency of the boiler was achieved.
“Development and characterization of Inconel-718 coatings by plasma spray process” (2014-2015)
Inconel was coated on mild steel substrate using plasma spray coating method and its mechanical properties were characterized using studies such as hardness test and scratch test. The process parameters of the spray coating process were analysed and optimized.
