DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise the pool area.

Ensure the safety and well-being of all patrons.

Enforce all rules in a professional manner.

Respond to emergencies.

Care for injuries, sudden illnesses, and other medical emergencies, give first aid, CPR, oxygen, etc.

Complete cleaning tasks as assigned.

Check pool chemicals.

Complete paperwork.

Register patrons for aquatic programs.

Supervising swimmers

Spotting hazards and preventing accidents

Giving advice on water safety

Controlling unruly behavior

Water rescue

First aid including CPR

Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.

Ability to pass a pre-employment physical skill evaluation as stipulated by the department.

Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.

Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
